Has anyone ever seen the AI controlled Danes do anything other than just sit on their arses breeding heirs? Maybe they make a foray into Sweden ( and usually get their arse kicked ) but never do they seem to do anything.
Now, I've seen the AI Pope grow a pair of balls before, and take over almost all of western Europe, but never seen the Danes do diddly.

After VI, the Danes 1 out of 3 times grew balls.
They took Sweden and Denmark. And then later invaded Russia and England. However, they invade England when theres a rebel province. Russia also when there is rebel province. They occasionally make forays into Saxony.
There is a way to switch factions while playing the MTW game in the middle of a campaign (using -ian option). If you do this, you'll see that the AI is absolutely idiotic in terms of how it runs its economy. In the case of Danes, a few years into the campaign they are mostly deep into the red unable to build anything... The same handicap applies to building economic trade networks: I tried building up an almo empire and leave it for the AI to handle about 50 years into the campaing. Before I turend almos over to the AI, they had a well developed trade network uninterrupted trade chain of ships going all over the mediterranean and larger fleets guarding access to the main ports. In a few turns of AI "management" the trade network was destroyed, all ships gathered into a few unprofitable stacks somewhere far away from home ports and... their sultan was stuck in portless ireland with the closest ship stack being a few sea regions away... on top of that, AI almos had managed to let Italian and English crusaders into their mainlans in the Iberian peninsula (i had left it all under Almo control, having huge armies in the choke-point provinces of Navarra and Aragon, fleets guarding all sea-access provinces... needless to add, the empire had gone from running a nice cash surplus into being completely in the red... :(

I agree with all this. I've started playing with the -ian switch all the time now - otherwise the Danes are almost always deeply in debt in a few years. With the switch I can get them going a little by forcing them to invade Sweden and adding some economic development to their building queus.
I'm playing a Danish/High game right now. The Italians got kicked out of everywhere and ended up with a big stack sitting in Crete. They must have 30 ships - but the ai put all of them in only three stacks which it keeps moving around the north atlantic while the rest of the faction sit in the mediteranian helpless and deeply in debt. I'm trying to move their ships back to them, but if I forget for even a turn then the AI just keeps moving them back to the Atlantic. I'd like to just suicide them and see if the faction re-emerges. The Byzanties reemerged on Rhodes - huge stacks, no ships - almost instant debt and no way to move. I'm thinking that I'll just move all the italians onto the byz and see who survives.
There is a cheat you can use to give a faction some money, isn't there? I'd like to use it, but IIRC it gives the faction 1,000,000 florins. That's really too much - I'd just like to get them out of debt with maybe a little more.

Given the performance of that Almohad test, you might as well try giving them a million.
