Ambush!!!!!

Always thought i was a really good general till i got ambushed by the Gaul, an entire army wiped of the face of the earth with such ease. This game keeps giving me some nasty surprises. Has anyone worked out a tactic on the battlefield to recover from an ambush. :charge:

I've played 1 and ghalf campaigns and only ever took part in 1 ambush. I ambushed the Gauls and slaughtered them.

I'd like to see the tendency to successfully ambush increased somewhat, especially for the AI.

I've only been ambushed once. The problem was it was one lone family member I was sending to govern a city against 300+ gauls. He took out about 20 and was reduced to 4 men. Thankfully he ran away before he himself was killed.

My armies have never been ambushed completely. However, I have a single unit reinforcement completely ambushed once (totally surrounded in a special map).

I escaped unscathed, but I couldn't withdraw. The enemy had to rout them off the field ~:handball:

I've been ambushed once after about six small campaigns and two big ones, it was during the first campaign and it gave me a decent enough scare to now always having a spy running ahead of my armies to prevent it from happening again. ~;)

i never been ambushed, but i have done it a couple of times. Both times no ones survives .... :skull:
