Everything was going so well, Greece was conquered and Oppius the Mighty was leading my victorious legions into Galatia seizing Ancyra in retribution for a foolish attempt to beseige Sardis which left the heir to the Egyptian throne lying dead in a pool of his own blood.

Now this!

Plague has struck Pergamum, one of my most valuable trading ports. 12,831 people live in the city which was producing over 2,000 profit per turn.

Now, its producing a -2,400 deficit and public order has dropped to 105% despite setting it to Growth Policy. I can't see what I can do to help these poor souls. The city has sewers, squalor is only 4.5% and health is 5%. The only building I haven't built that might help is a public baths.

Has anyone any trips for combatting the plaque?

Would sending a prominent member of my family there to personally mop their fevered brow help or merely incur the cost of a family funeral :help:

DON'T send a prominent family member there, they will get the plaugue themselves and then spread it around wherever they go, and thats only if they don't die of it.

I managed to halt plague by building public baths, only to forget that the governer had the plauge and send him home, the very next year death stalks the streets once again. This time even building an aquaduct has had no effect on halting the plauge.

I think health buildings and wait it out are all you can do, maybe reduce squalor, but at 3.5 it shouldn't be a major factor, and it will go down as your people die off rapidly anyway.

Quarantine the city I say, nobody enters or leaves until the plague is eradicated... Health buildings should also be considered extremely high priority.

On the plus side, at least it will help stop squalor and cultural unrest in a city! (If only Carthage could get it in my Brutii campaign)

In a particularly cynical move, I moved unwanted peasant units from my most squalid cities into the diseased town.

I'm sure it was complete coincidence, but the plauge's effects were light and it was over in three turns.

Still, I'd somebody else to try this. It could be a bug.

i'm currently attempting to infect a few of my diplomats, spies and assassins so that they can carry the plague to my enemy's cities. it just showed up in one of my large towns and i lost 755 folks in one turn with a -10% growth rate. nothing i've done to improve the city has helped so far as i can tell. nasty little disease this plague.
