I really love my julii hastati.

But, while running some tests with them vs scipii hastati, I noticed the scipii hastati have really sweet looking shoulder armor. Makes them look so much more awesome!

The julii hastati, do not have this.

Neither, (once I became aware of the problem and paid attention) do rebel hastati.

I'd love to see that remedied in a hotfix, patch, etc, whatever :)

The fix in that case would be a removal of the shoulderarmour...

Could you post a screenshot of it? I would love to see it.

Maybe the factions typically armed there men differently but the fighting style was the same

All right, here are screenies

Julii hastati vs scipii hastati

Julii principes vs scipii principes

You can clearly see that while the scipii units have awesome looking shoulder pads, the corresponding julii units do not.

I cannot believe this is intentional, since they look *so* inferior compared to the scipii versions.

For principii especially, it looks extremely silly to have their chainmail shirt ending where it does.

I was browsing over at twcenter.net to see if they had found anything, and one guy said he was looking around in the graphics files and it looked to him like the shoulder armor for the juilii had been completely alpha'ed out. What would it take to fix that?

It would be great CA, if my beloved juliii could have some of that strapping, manly, shoulder armor.

the scipii looks cooler- but from what ive seen, the julii looks more realistic

It is just a different texture.

A matter of taste.

in normal view you will not see the difference at all, so what do you want?

Less diversity in looks? Or Julii-style shoulder armor?

I would say, let the Scipii look a bit cooler... at least it is good that they do not look absolutely identical.

I hope you agree that there are more pressing matters to take care of...

Are we sure this isn't something to do with the armour levels ie have the Julii teched up a level to more armour?

Just a thought

In terms of the principes both forms of armour are corrent, indeed there were probably more shoulderless suits. The hastati, if depicted with pectoral plates as now shouldn't have any shoulder pads.

"the scipii looks cooler- but from what ive seen, the julii looks more realistic"

The Juilii hastati look more realistic - it looks odd to have chain mail sleeves atop a body that is only wearing a plate of armor over a tunic. The scipii hastati shouldn't have shoulder pads either.

The scipii principes look more realistic - they are clearly wearing a chain mail shirt. Juilii principes should have shoulder pads.

"It is just a different texture"

It's the exact same texture, just on one hastati/principe, the shoulder armor is alphaed out completely. In the other, it's not. They should be consistent.

"in normal view you will not see the difference at all"

I frequently zoom in on the fighting.

"I hope you agree that there are more pressing matters to take care of..."

I'm not a graphics guy, or I'd try to fix it myself :( All that might need changing is an alpha channel in photoshop or something. I think I'll go see if the TWC guys have anything on that - they are a mod crazy bunch to be sure :)
