G'Day all,
I"ve recently sorted out an MP problem that might plague others, and as I can't post in the regular forums (MODS, I'm Dunhill from STW days and only started Dunhill_BKK because I couldn't remember my details). I thought I'd post it here so it can flow out to the other forums.
I was getting an update error when attmpting to start the multiplayer game. It told me that I needed a to download the update, which I'd already done.
There problem seems to be with the presence of the demo, and its interaction with Gamespy. Initial attempts to scan the RTW folder resulted in not locating RTW for Gamespy. Removing the demo didn't help, and required that uninstall the full version of RTW as well. I reinstalled RTW and the patch after a restart and this cleared up the problem.
Remember to manually delete the Activision folder after uninstallation, as it remainded for some reason, with some stuff in it (this may be holdovers from the patch).
I was able log on and play a game, with minimal lag.
Its not to the level of STW, but it isn't bad considering the level of detail.
