Ok sinds a couple of days the brightness in my game has been extremely high, coming to a point that its hurting my eyes to watch it.Even the textline to see city details and unit details are impossible to read.I updated my graphics card driver and that seemed to fix this issue but now its happening again and i have no clue what to do at this point, anybody with the same problem?
I also have slightly too much brightness, which make the hoplites and the greek city walls far too white and bright. BUt it's been the case since day one, and hasn't worsened. Don't know how to reduce it anyway.

yes the brightness is very annoying especially when you click on a unit with shiny armour..you can actually feel your eyes burn
Brightness is very high. Winterbattles are not that good for the eyes..

Just turn down the brightness on your monitor. That helps a lot!

When i fought in a winter battle the field was all white! I could not see rocks or dirt on the snow, i mean it was a field of pure white! Where my legions fighting in heaven or something?!

I'm on a GF4 and the game is pretty bright for me, so I don't think it's card related. I simply drop the monitor brightness a tad when I play RTW.

Yea, its downright painful, especially the carthaginians and seleucids. Turning down brightness isn't that great of a solution because it makes the parts that look normal too dark. :embarassed:
It's the sun "glinting" or whatever....but it IS far too bright....

are you using a TFT monitor ? I had the same problem. Changing the preset from "movie daylight" to "photo daylight" made me knock my head on the wall, because I played for 12 hours with the game way too bright. Those presets are a nice mix of contrast and brightness. Colours are much better now. Strange , the first time I experienced this with any software.

Just found this....

You might also want to try adjusting the gamma setting on your video card control panel. I had the opposite problem (everything was too dark) and was able to solve it with a slight gamma adjustment.

I have an ATI 9800 pro with the graphics on highest settings and no problems. Some of the brightness you may be experiencing could be because of the reflections. Turn off the glint/reflections in the adv options and see how the game looks.

Turning glints/reflections on or off does nothing at all, I don't notice the difference. Not just the brightness, I don't notice any glints or reflections when I turn it on. ~
click the link in my freakin' post....
didn't "this should fix it" give it away?
