I've looked around the Colloseum for answers to my noob questions but couldn't find any, maybe its my luck iunno, but here goes:

I know that sap points are for bringing walls down, but how do you use it in a siege? Do you have to pull it up to the wall and the units will start digging a tunnel or something? and are Pike units able to use it?

After you got a unit up on the walls with a siege tower, how do you go about opening the gate? And can I do the same thing to clear enemy towers out too?

I noticed that for siege towers, there's an extra floor above the one where your troops rush out, and there seems to be a slot that looks like it can be used for missile units to stand there and shoot at enemy units on the walls. If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about, have you guys ever tried getting units up there?

And last one, everyone knows that if you bring a battering ram up a stone wall, it'll catch on fire and burn. However, if you've already got a unit up on the walls fighting towards the gatehouse and you start rolling your battering ram up, will the enemy archers be too distracted to shoot at your ram?

I know its a buncha questions but I hope other beginner players will find this helpful too, thx!

1. Most infantry can sap. Yes pike units can. Just right click a selected unit on the sap point and they'll start digging.
Sap points can be destroyed by enemy fire.

2. Running units onto the battlements above the gate will enable them to capture it eventually. Running units through towers does the same thing.

3. That extra level is for large stone walls and above. The siege towers shoot back from that floor automatically. You cant put guys up there tho.

4. Usually rams/siege weapons take priority, and the castle defences will always target siege weapons. A stone wall gatehouse will always take out a ram by itself.

Click on the wall. They'll push it up, and start climbing until they have a sizeable assault party, then the door should come down. If you time it right, you can stop them right before they lower the door and save your men from taking arrow fire (I think they still come up to the assault level too).

That upper level has archers. Set the group pushing the tower to fire at will, for stone walls it's archers, for higher it's scorpions. Sometimes I build several just to get the scorpions to attack an elite unit on the walls.
