That should grant her the "utterly fearless" virtue.

saw this one on tv tonight...amazing woman. Apparently, she thought that the croc was going for the baby and instictively decided that it was a good idea to attack the croc for a change...go girl !

Suprised no one else has said what a foolhardy, stupid thing to do. There is a thin line between courage and foolhardyness.

Getting killed and not getting killed ~:)

I fail to see your point. The fact of this case is that if another person had not come and saved her both she and the original victim would have been dead. That shows stupidity if you ask me, not courage and intelligence. She should have got the guy with the gun in the first place rather than put both lives at risk, but nevermind I guess they got lucky and it worked out fine in the end.

"Cowards die many times before their death; the valiant taste of death but once."

Let's play guess the quote!

One persons coward is anothers persons hero.

It is very difficult to lbael 'cowardice' and 'courage', at least imo.

A 12 feet croc, wow. Something that paralyses any spectator with fear. What if everyone did? The guy would be dead. Granny broke the paralyse and attacked. The gun guy thought: 'oh, yes I should attack too'.

Perhaps she values the live of others more then her own? Recall that she saw a baby in danger. Perhaps there was neither courage nor intelligence nor stupidity, she just acted. And a good thing she did, she bought time and motivated the others to help.

GO GRANNY!

Well at 60, she might just have thought "my life for any other", especially a baby.

"The injured campers managed to set off a rescue beacon, capturing the attention of government wildlife officials in the area who were eradicating wild pigs."

Right.. "eradicating" eh? Probably putting them to fire and testing it's effect on kangaroos...

Sasaki Kojiro, that quote would be attributed to William Shakespeare from Julius Caesar.

JAG, this woman's reaction was the classic 'fight or flight' adrenalin rush. It probably was more of a sub-conscious act than one that was thought about.
It happened at 4am, still dark I assume, and came as a complete surprise, humans aren't used to being prey any more. I doubt they knew that those WildLife Officers were in the area, but thankfully they had the foresight to have a rescue beacon with them. Fortunately crocs are cold blooded, and are kind of sluggish till they bask in the heat of the sun to power up.

i fail to see why one would be a coward for refusing to jump onto a 12 foot croc.....

i sure as hell wouldn´t do it....call me a ****** if you want......when the attack´s over ill be the ****** with all my limbs thank you
~D

anyway....just a dumb move....because she lucked out and it turned out ok doesn´t make her a hero...it just makes her damn lucky. ~

I'd like to know how you're getting away with using that word.... :inquisitive:

I would have just pulled my desert eagle and convinced the gator to let the man go.
