There are some times I just think "WTF?" when I"m playing RTW. I try to not swear so much now.

Occurance #1:

a new Merc Troop (https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v470/colovion/sarm1.jpg) is found north of the Danube - one of the best Cavalry in the game. I try it out on a singular Archer Warband I find prancing in the forest. Ok, I know Warbands and "Barbarian" troops get a bonus in the woods and horses aren't already that great in the forest - but WTF? (https://photobucket.com/albums/v470/colovion/?action=view&current=sarm2.jpg) 5 Sarmatians left? I charged three times! One of which was not in the forest..

Occurance #2:

Brutii assaults my settlement.

Oh no! They've broken through the gates! (https://photobucket.com/albums/v470/colovion/?action=view&current=freeze1.jpg)

My archers on the top parapet never did anything the whole battle until I sent them to one side. It seems that archers are totally uncontrollable if you set them to be divided up between the three sections in the Deployment Phase - the only thing they will do for you besides setting their Special Ability on or off is walk somewhere. This was very annoying, but didn't warrant a WTF because it happened to me before. Anyway, they broke through the gate - the wall battles had gone alright... but no one attacked through the gates...
helloooo? (https://photobucket.com/albums/v470/colovion/?action=view&current=freeze2.jpg)

It turns out the ENTIRE ENEMY ARMY froze. Some just stopped what they were doing but would still run away once enough of them were killed by arrow fire - but others just sat there totally still as if they had all been frozen in place.

These guys (https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v470/colovion/freeze4.jpg) were going to get up that ladder some day - but they never did, they were just standing there totally motionless. Then there were these other guys (https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v470/colovion/freezeX.jpg) who had taken that tower and gate but then once some of them had gotten to the ground they froze. Those are my hourse running away. I had seen those guys and charged some Greek Cav at them - those few guys stopped two units of Greek Cav, not because they were fighting eachother - but because they all froze.... and my guys sat there trying to get through the brick wall-like pose of those fearsome Barbarian Mercs while taking arrow fire. Please note the "Broken" attribute that those Mercs have - they weren't going anywhere. So WTF? AI armies totally freezing?

Occurance #3:

ever seen this? (https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v470/colovion/freeze3.jpg) it seems that my Hoplites got a little carried away when I told them to attack the guys climbing up the ladders, couldn't wait, and had to climb down the ladders and kill all of the enemies at the bottom of the ladders as well. I didn't think it was possible for you to use enemy siege equipment against them like this, but it was a somewhat pleasant WTF? among some nasty ones.

Well the first is understandable. Archer warbands can be pretty nasty and the woods is tough. Well at the least it shows that cavalry isn't overpowered everywhere. :)

As for the siege battle, that is strange. I've not gotten anything like that, but then again I've not defended many sieges yet. I do like the fact that your guys went down the ladder. That to me is pretty cool.

1. I had the Sarmatians on 3 different occasions, each time they were nowhere near being worth thier cost in battle. I admit in 2 of the battles I mearly threw them at the enemy just to see what they could do.

2. I've had both of these problems aswell. Things like the archers being split and not firing is just one of many crazy bugs that happen in sieges with manned walls and lots of siege equipment.

As for the enemy freezing it happens to me quite often in seiges, most of the time it seems to happen becuase the AI doesent know how to proceed with it's attack. If you deny enough of it's tactical options it runs out of scripts or something. (speculation)

3. Yes, I took it for granted the first time I saw it but now that I think about it's cool they provided for this but then again if you couldent do it people would be complaining about it :)
