I've checked the deadpage coords and they're listed there; so is there a vanishing corpse bug with javelin armed infantry?

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you elaborate a bit?

I am assuming he means that when other units die (other than infantry and javenlinmen) that their bodies saty dead on the ground,, while the infantry and javelinmen , their bodies disappear from the battle field after soem time passes from when they die , i have experienced this as well on my MTW, and VI games...I have found that this does not happen in RTW.

Well there are a few problems with some of the VI units. Its not enough for it to be mentioned in the deadpage file but also in the correct order, otherwise the game stops loading the coords. What specific unit is it?

Both the Spanish and Slav Javelinmen disappear when they die as opposed to Almughavars(Spear and Javelin armed) who remain on the field after being slain. I encountered this problem while I was deciding on which javelin armed infantryman to use a new modded troop type for the Byzantine faction. I checked the deadpage coords and these two troop types were listed there. This is what confused me.

I checked the thread in the modding section about this topic, but I could not understand the solution - beyond the cutting and pasting. What is the correct order? Is there a guide that lists the units in order?

I just created Byzantine peltastoi(based on the Slav version) using the instructions on new unit creation in the Repository. Just like the other javelinmen units, these guys vanish when slain - I pasted them at the end of the deadpage file.

Could someone please point out what I'm doing wrong?

I found out that order is not important so I was wrong in earlier post. What name did you give them in the deadpages file?

Edit: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=29803 you checked that thread?

Ok I found out the problem:

You have most likely done the correct thing but CA made some mistakes with the deadpages file so your new unit will never show up. It checks for each unit in the unit file but as soon as an error occurs the game simply stops checking for any other deadpage coords.

The thread I gave link to should provide the solution.

Edit: or you could try and move your newly created unit near the top of the crusaderprod file...cant remember if that causes any problems heh

Thanks for replying. The abovementioned thread was the first thing I checked when I experienced this problem, though I didn't quite understand how it worked. I just tried it and the spanish javelinmen now appear as corpses. I guess looking at something isn't enough for comprehension, one also has to try it out.

My javelin armed Peltastoi are a modified version of Slav Javelinmen. I now found a solution to their invisible corpse problem: Their deadpage coords were based on the SJ's. As per the unit creation thread, I had originally placed them at the end of the list. As this didn't work, I moved them up and placed them after the Slav Javelinmen. Now they too appear on the field - though I don't know what this will affect the other units on the list.

The way Im understanding it is that the some of the VI units are missing in the crusaderprodfile (they are only in the Viking unitfile) When the game encounters a missing unit it simply stops even if the rest are correct.

By moving your unit away from the bottom, the game doesnt encounter the problem until after it found your unit and it will have dead bodies.
