sometimes you can build watchtowers on suitable terrain on the strat map ive seen the enemy do this and i have also done it, is it possible to destroy these towers once they are of no more use?
I haven't found a way yet. However, I don't think they're costing me any upkeep, either, so I don't know if I'm going to worry about it.
What would be useful would be if you could make incursions into enemy territory and burn down their towers, you know, a "let's blind them" campaign. But that's not possible either. They build those watchtowers to last.

I think they need to include an option to raze watchtowers and forts, but make forts permanent as well. Think how cool it would be to fight over key forts, even have upgrades available for the various factions. Of course, the AI would have to respond better to fortifications as it seems to dislike attacking them at the moment.
I had Julii attack my fort as Gaul....they just need to really want to get past....
Since watch towers show up on the battlefield you can stand next to 1 wait for the enemy and try to destroy it there. But my guess is you ca'nt destroy them on the battlefield
Forts should stay, i agree...

It would be nice to be able to take down watchtowers. Because there have been times when I've wanted to build a fort near where a watchtower already is, but can't because of the watchtower.
I've got a permanent fort that my Carthaginian forces won off the Romans early on.
I didn't want it then (just wanted to kill the army) & I still don't want it but it won't go away.
There's an epic battle there from that victory but I can't see the details because it just says 'Carthaginian fort' :balloon2:
I guess some kind of bug because if the A.I. abandons a fort it dissapears
