Everytime i bribe a army they disband, I want them to fight for me not to disband.
It sometimes says that a general or army will join me but it never happens.
How does it work, can u get a bribed army to fight for yhou.

Only rebels can join your faction, you can bribe a rebel stack, they will join your army.
However if you bribe another faction, only the General will join you, the others will just disband and disipear.

Therotter is incorrect. The assassin is correct. Only rebels will join you, armies of any other faction will simply disband (with the exception of general).

Here is something that I have not yet confirmed, but observed: if the rebel stack has a general, then the army will disband, but he will join your faction. In contrast, if the rebel army does not have a general, most of that army will join you (a couple will disband).

The only rebels that will join your faction are rebels from your culture (e.g. spawned from your own cities). You cannot keep other rebels, except family members, and they will be given a new bodyguard. You can, without question, bribe armies of troops within your own culture and keep them. For instance, as Brutii, you can keep a Julii army. I've done this numerous times. You can't, however, keep troops that you couldn't build, like the gladiators that belong to other factions.

My apologies. I got bored with the Romans too quickly and went playing for the barbarian underdogs. Thus, my bribing experience is limited to barbarians. Good description and a telling picture -- worth a thousand words ~D

Actually no, in my experience Therother is right and Assassin is wrong. As the Julii...

When I bribe non-Roman armies (Rebel or not) lead by a Captain, the army disband and the soldiers turn back into citizens.

When I bribe a non-Roman army lead by a General, the army disbands but the General is adopted by my current Faction Heir.

When I bribe a Roman army (Brutii, Scipii, SPQR), lead by a Captain or General, I get the whole army, and if there was a General, he's adopted by my Faction Heir.

That's been my experience so far. And to be honest, I think it's dumb that bribed non-roman armies disband. They should act like Mercs which are also bought and are non-Roman. My two pence.

Why did they make it like that, I liked the feature of MTW that you could keep the units you bribed, I want some units from other factions to not only from my faction.

Maybe there's a way to mod this, i hope so.
I want to grab some rebel units sometimes and they just wont join me. And its a waste of time buying them if they are going to disband. I mean it kind of makes sense that some units would disband but there should also be units who stay.

You only get to keep units that your faction can build. If you're selucid, and you bribe a macedonian stack, you'll get to keep the militia hoplites, levy pikemen, archers, but no light lancers or macedonian cavalry, etc.

I'm pretty sure Beelzebub is right on this one. I've played the Selucids, Carthaginians and all of the Roman factions. The deciding factor in my bribe-sprees has always been whether or not I could build that type of unit. If I can't, they disband. If I can, they join me.

Has anyone ever been able to obtain a unit they couldn't build? Say, a phalanx for Rome?

Current Julii Vh/H Total Realism Mod v1

I dont bribe fellow Roman faction units. I do have a diplomat roam Italy looking for Rebels (Italian). I get them as units and are cheaper than building them.

I bribe other times to free up roads/areas for trade to flow. My armies are too busy expanding the Empire than to hunt rebels.

I see a good Rebel General (from an eliminated faction), I will bribe him to join my faction.

I have had AI factions bribe my troops and a lone Family member. Had Brutii bribe away 2 Creten Archers and a Rhodesian Slinger I dropped off in southern Italy to march north while the ships returned to Rhodes.
