Pardon the somewhat crude topic for this thread, but this is something that has bugged me for over a decade. Why aren't urinals used at private homes?

The usual argument is that it is because only men can use it. Well, many homes have bidets. While men could technically use a bidet, I have never ever known one who did so. A bidet is a woman-only facility, yet it is acceptable to have one in the home. Why not a urinal? Sure it might take up too much space in most homes, but surely there are some residences that are large enough to have room for a urinal here and there, yet none do. Women always complain about men leaving the toilet seat up, yet they don't want us to have the solution.

I demand equal bathroom rights! End the discrimination! Fight the system!

I've never seen one of these before, as I've never been in a women's restroom....

They don't exist in public restrooms (that I am aware of) only in homes. Interesting that you've never seen one, all of my parents homes have had one, though they recently ripped theirs out when their redid the master bathroom a year ago.

Here's what one looks like with proof of their use in private homes:

Yeah, interestingly enough I've never seen one in a private home before... just traditional toilets....

I have to admit I also rarely have seen bidets in private households (I usually "encounter" them in hotel rooms).

As for the urinal - any man considering to urinate in our bathroom would be wise not to do so in a standing position (regardless whether he would use a urinal or the "classic" toilet) - lest he is going to draw the wrath of Mrs Clegane upon him :charge: (and mine as well if his aim sucks :furious3: )

Our architects in Italy are refusing not to install bidets in our bathrooms. So we're going to have to have them. Meh... we keep toilet rolls in them.

most home restrooms have a single-occupancy theme, and are small - so the inconvenience of having to operate a toilet is the price to pay for not having something else using up space in your bathroom.

most public restrooms are built to service more than one person at a time; you can pack more people in at a line of urinals than toilets. i myself never liked the 'australian' style of using a trough.
