View Full Version : AI needs to keep its heirs with troops better

It almost seems like the default behaviour is to separate them. I'm far more likely to see an AI family member running around by himself than with a big army.

This makes the computer family members very very bribable (brutii keeps losing heirs to the greeks) and also very easily killable. Plus it looks silly.

The carthaginians, for example, have a stack of maybe 17 units in an army in my province. Then, right next to them, a lonely family member with no one else. They've been like this for 3 turns now.

Definitely agree.

In my current game (using the Realism mod) I was attacked in turn by three 20 unit stacks of Germans, and each time a captain was in charge - no family members to be seen. Turns out they were all wandering around somewhere up north. One of the battles was close enough that a command and/or morale boost my have turned the tide in the German's favor.

I wonder, when 2 AI sides are fightint it out and the attacking side attacks the huge stack led by a captain rather than the small stack led by a faction member, does the faction member get the "idiotic AI control" or the other one? :) i.e., do they charge right into the middle of it and die or are more likely to wait a bit and then do the same thing (like the "normal" AI opponent would do playing against a human).
