You will face Lesbian rebels in Phrygia, and maybe another province.
The word lesbian is derived from the island Lesbos. As I recall from reading a newspaper, there was a powerful woman living there, who some other men of Greece wasn't that happy about. So they, started planting rumours about her having sexual relations with other women.

The poet Sappho of Lesbos actually was lesbian. She wrote many love poems to women.
Btw, you need to turn on the AA and the AF, your image quality looks horrible.

I assumed it would be something like that. Learn something every day eh?
Of course... now I realise how weird the thread title looks. Maybe that 56k warning wasn't such a good idea.

I'll gladly turn on AA and AF when I upgrade my system. But I'm content to run these details at a fairly ok frame rate for now. I just knew someone would comment on how bad the settings were :embarassed:

Don't feel bad, mine looks exactly like that.
Can't wait for all my new parts to come in so I can put my new system together! Something tells me I won't even recognize this game......especially if they put out the desperately needed patch between now and then.
Lends new meaning to the phrase `taking a licking`.

In my last game there was a huge outbreak of lesbian rebels around 168-170-ish...
Maybe all of you know this but homosexual affairs were generally accepted in the classic cultures. It is known that spartan boys were made to have sex together so that they would be more of a unit on the battlefield.

Only the Greeks culture. The Romans were extremely conservative until the imperial era.

Yes of course!! ~:)
That explains why the legionaires of Julius Sezar used to call him:
"The lover of all women and mistress of all men". ~D
And with my little history knowledge i think that he lived before the "imperial era".

Well, Cato did kick someone out of the Senate for embracing his wife in public.
I am pretty sure homo sexual is latin, I am not sure. That could however mean two things, they thought it was odd and therefore named it separately, or they thought it was necessary to differentiate between the two because it was so common. Hard to tell really, you are right tho, I have not read of explicit homosexual affairs with Romans. However the description of a Minion (Trait) leaves little room for interpretation :book: ~;)

Hey LordKhaine, next time get a zoom in on those rebels.
I'm just curious as to the realism levels of the game, you understand. ~

No, the Roman's definitely did not like homosexuality...
Whilst Marius was campaigning in Numidia, one of his Tribunes, who was also a cousin of his, made repeated overtures to a legioniary. Finally, this tribune decided to kill the soldier, in revnge for his rejection. However, he got the worst of the fight, and was killed.
The Legionary was put on trial for kiling a superior officer. However, when his comrades corroborated his version of events, Marius was so disgusted with the officer's actions that-despite the fact the dead man was a relative-he dropped all of the charges, and personally presented the soldier with the corona civica for defending his honour so dilligently.
Just thought it was an interesting story.

Homosexual
is greek
Homo in latin is man
Homo in greek is "same"
Homosexual is either a man or a woman engaging in sexual practices with the same sex.
Oh well, the Romans had Orgia

Correct. Homo in latin is used in homo sapien, "hombre", etc. Homo in greek is used in homogenus, homosexual, etc.

"Homo" in this case is Greek, but "sex" is Latin. It's a mixed compound, so you know it was made up in relatively modern times, like "sociology."
