Get it here : http://p4.hostingprod.com/@minerva-victrix.com/loading-screens-mod-v1.1.zip

Note: I've converted the files into .jpg to make the download easier, so you will have to convert them back into .tga for them to function properly in game. For most of you this will be a snap, but I've still included instructions on how to do this in the README file.

I've created all new loading/splash screens for use with Rome: Total War, using my own personal photographs and images taken from elsewhere to replace the depressing old black & red ones. They have all been heavily modified for use in the game, and coloring has been changed in places for a more 'mediterranean' feel. It's taken me some time to put them all together, but it's been well worth it - the results in many cases have been spectacular, to say the least.

I've been using these for a while now, and they really improve the level of immersion!

Originally I was going to release this as part of a comprehensive mod I was working on, but I decided it would take too long for me to finish the whole mod.. I'd rather just release this instead. Of course I'm posting this message here to see if anyone is actually interested in it! But if someone wants to host this particular mod, or use it as part of their own mod, I'd be happy to oblige.

I'll post an example here.. The pictures will speak for themselves. These new images largely reflect the Greek and Roman (primarily Roman) world of the 4th century BCE to the 1st century CE - of course there are a few examples that are outside of this time frame, but I've included them anyway just because they were so interesting. Most of the new screens represent battles and soldiers, with a few exceptions.

P.S. Dear forum Mods, I know this isn't the place where this little add-on belongs; so kick this post into the Dungeon if you need to. ~:handball:

Nice...

Would it be possible to mod the quotes file as well since it's a bit short and repetitive and contains some errors?

"Vae Victus", to quote from memory, is wrong. It's "victis"ยจ.

I've thought about this too.. It probably wouldn't be that difficult to edit. From the looks of it, adding new quotes seems possible.

"Quotes.txt" in the data/text directory and "desc_quotes_lookup.txt" in the /data directory would be the files to edit. "Quotes.txt" has the actual quotations and "desc_quotes_lookup.txt" seems to work like a reference key.

P.S. I didn't realize that I had been promoted to "member" status! Otherwise I would have posted this directly to the dungeon! Whoops.. Sorry about that :embarassed:
