View Full Version : Darth Malek is spanking me, need help!
I am at the final battle of this absolute gem of a game, but can't finnish it. My double blaster expert scroundel has been eating dark jedi's for lunch the whole game, but Malek is soooooooooooo strong. My stun attacks don't connect so the devastating stun/sneak-attack combo that has served me oh so well is useless. I never invested any points in the lightsaber so melee is not an option. My jedi is so light-side it hurts by the way.

You need to take out the jedi's he's got captured first otherwise he will keep on healing himself. Then you have to just have to keep hacking away at him. You will prob nead to heal yourself a lot in the fight. I found that malek is a lot harder when you play as a light side character.

Personally when i played thru as light side i stocked up on grenades like no tommorow... neve rused em the whole game till the last fight - first throw an ice bomb at him to hold him still then either cut him t oshred OR lob tonnes of plasma nades at him.... worked for me like a charm tho it did require some healing packs
It's not that he's trouble for light siders. Every light sider I've ever had has trounced him but good. But then, every light-sider I've ever made was a guardian. Malak's defense isn't high enough to overcome the ridiculous bonuses a guardian gets to his hit rolls, but his saves are enough to put force dependent people in the hurt.
You are remembering to force breach him before trying to stun, right? I seem to remember Malak using force resistance abilities. If that's accurate, you'd need a miracle to get off a spell without breaching him first.
What's your equipment like, and which version are you playing? Did you remember to snag yourself the star forge robes while you were going through? If you're playing PC, did you get the circlet of saresh on Kashyyk way back when? Anything at all that can boost your wis and chr helps, since Malak does have such high saves.

If you are playing a "mage", forget about powers that allow saves. Use Saber Throw.

Been there, my friend.
What the guys above have said is right, I wouldn't bother too much with the light side force powers-they don't have too much of an effect.
Fill yourself full of as many different sims as possible before the fight. Also, try using the verpine energy shield. Fight him once, THEN kill all of the jedi, THEN fight him once more to finish him off. When you're up close and personal, use loads of medpacks-but apply them in the menu, otherwise he'll smack you while your character goes through the animation.
Why didn't you bother with the lightsaber?!

Dual-wielding Light-sabering Rogue/Consular. The only way to go. Stun, then multiple criticals with sneak bonuses. The pain caused is brilliant. Don't forget to stick stunning crystals in both sabers.
IMO the only reason Malak is so hard is because they were trying to stop players from actually seeing the crappy ending(s)
I guess I am pretty much screwed then. I have no points in force breach, my strength is still at 10 and I use 2 blaster pistols. This worked like a charm the whole game, EVERYTHING I encountered I shot up before my allies could even help me out. Ah well, I will just have to start all over again ~D

If your starting new go dark side. Its a lot more fun in my opinion.

There is a light side force power you use to "release" the Jedi which give Malak his power - forget which one it is though :embarassed:
I still reckon if you take out those Jedi and use a combination of grenades, stims and everything else you've got you should still be able to do it.

If I remember correctly the higher levels of the stun droid family hurt the jedi. I suspect blasters may be able to target them, but don't take that as guaranteed. If you can manage to hit Malak with your blasters for some damage, even if it is slight, you can brute force your way through by shooting him until he uses the first jedi, killing all the jedi and then finishing him off. If you are anything like me you will have around 100 healing items and tonnes of grenades in your inventory by this point; unload them like there is no tomorrow.

I found Malek pretty tough as well. It took me three tries to kill him. I stock piled lots of energy shields and healing packs, and used my force powers to heal me as well. Ultimately, you need to somehow stop him from attacking you whilst you kill the entrapped Jedi. I just ran as quickly as possible ~:)
Once the Jedi are dead, its really just a case of using as many healing/adrenaline packs as possible, and keep your shields going. To be honest, I don't think it will be very easy at all to kill him without a lightsaber because you need to be able to parry some of his attacks.
If your starting new go dark side. Its a lot more fun in my opinion.
I did. It is ~D I never play evil characters, but being evil is so much FUN with this game.
Ha eat that Malek. All bow down to Darth Fragony the only true sithmaster! Is it just me or is the dark-side overpowered? I am a bit disapointed in how easy the game got in the later stages, not untill the Starforge did the game provide a bit of a challenge, high level force storm and deathfield are just too good. All in all I think playing the light-side is more fun, it also makes more sense storywise. Bastilla had no reason to start admiring me when I was so obviously evil, pity. What REALLY disapointed me is that as a dark-side character I never had to fight light jedi's, it would have been awesome to fight a horde of light-power wielding characters to make you fear them a bit more. All in all a really good game, can't wait for part 2.
