Finished the long campaign - a question

OK, after 3 weeks of playing my first campaign I've finally finished my fist 'capture 50 provinces and take Rome' campaign as the Julii (I'm married and have a job, but I've tried not to let that interfere with my RTW too much). So, I was happy to finally finish my campaign, but I wanted to go on for total World domination - the other 2 Roman factions were giving me a hard time, and I wanted to rid the planet of their pretend Roman ways and see red as far as the eye could see on the mini map. But after the little victory movie, that was it, game over - no option to continue, I'm returned to the Campaign selection menu. So - am I missing something? Or is it only the short campaigns that you can continue after meeting the victory requirements?

Happened to me each time I finished imp campaign so presum that's it.
Would be nice to continue if wanted IMO.

you can keep going past 50 if you let rome rebel.
