Last night I set up my army badly and got beaten by the papacy in a literally uphill defensive battle (I know, I messed it up...) By the way it was the pesky papacy that attacked (after being excom).

So, I was pist off on losing the battle and so many troops so what I did was that with my last unit (the general + 2 royal knights) I kept running around in the second half of the time. Enemy was tired, hardly had good cavalry, so I easily outmanouvered them and finaly the time was up... However this seems to be a very (too) easy way to win battles, may even be 'bug' or 'cheat'

What are your thoughts on this?

It's gamey - you win, but leaves a bad taste. What is especially frustrating is when the game ends this way simply because some unit got stuck while retreating off the board.

Too often I'm starting the battle and I don't know what happens exactly - I'll have units selected and/or grouped and I go to move or to change facing and all of a sudden everyone starts running or spinning randomly - I end up with units scattered pell-mell facing all sorts of directions for no apparent reason. I know it's not "right", but at that point I throw the battle and re-play the whole turn. I've found that if you don't change any of the moves you made before you ended the year that the moves the AI makes will be identical, though you are apt to get different results on naval battles, spies, assassinations, etc.

True, it seems easy, but I find such a thing can rarely happen as if you've lost so many units the chances are all your units will rout. Were you playing on easy on in arcade mode? I think your units rout less often on easy, and hence you are able to run units around in a very gamish way while everyone else is getting slaughtered..

No edit button eh? No matter:

How embaressing, I didn't even properly read the 'MTW' in the title. Ignore my post.
