It happens sometimes that I have a taisho with honor level -1, with 2 wins and 3 losses. Now the question is he worth training? That is does he reach higher levels faster than if I had use I fresh level 0 taisho ??

Thanx in advance

-1 honour well all the troops have reduced morale for having him as a general.

Don't use only honour, use theforce, too.

Haji,
If you use a loser taisho until the number of wins equals the number of losses the taisho will become a level 0. At that point he's no better than an ordinary unit commander. I would advise sending the loser to an army with a better taisho or at least isolating him until a better one appears.

Since levels are based on the number of wins minus the number of losses, it is counter-productive to try to rehabilitate losers IMO.

It all depends on what unit he personaly commands. If its just your basic As, YS, or SA then they will get placed on some garrison or pacify duty where combat is not likely. If the unit has special abilities or was exspensive then I will make sure that the unit is stacked with a higher ranked taisho.

Better still, keep sending him into battles on his own and then retreat from them. Just wait until his honour plummets and then sit back and watch the clip "Ooops I fell on my Sword".

Along the same lines as Yabusama's suggestion you can use these Taisho's for what I call pinning attacks, especialy if they are an ranged unit.

When I'm attacking over a multi bordered front, I will commonly attack adjacent provinces of my main attack to reduce the number of reinforcements that the AI sends in to defend against my main attack.

Most of the time I don't even bother fighting in these adjacent provinces, but if the units attacking contain a ranged unit sometimes I will. All you have to do is after the battle starts pull your forces to the edge of your side of the map preferably up a hill. As soon as an enemy unit comes within range, start firing at them. When the enemy unit is almost close enough to engage in melee, retreat your men.

Chances are that you will have shot up a few soldiers with very small if any losses. Not too good for your Tausho's honor, but effective never the less http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

As I recall, your troops do not receive an honor penalty until the tashio reaches a -2 level. So, you can use him like a level 0 tashio. If he gets to -2, I wouldn't use him anymore. Also, going the other way, you have to get him to +2 level before troops get an honor bonus.
