View Full Version : What am I doing to cause this?

Every now and then, in the middle of a battle, the sound effects cut out. I open up the menu, go to sound options, and find that the sound effects have been muted. I unmute them and everything continues. Except I never muted them to start with.
This happens often enough to be annoying. But it doesn't happen consistently, so I'm thinking that there's some super-secret keyboard shortcut to mute the sound that I don't know about that I'm accidently pressing. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone else had it happen to them?
This has happened to me quite often as well. And like you, I haven't been able to figure out what causes it. I'm always pressing (or just pressed) some key(s), but by the time the sound cuts out, I can't remember what the combination of keys was.
At least it's an easy "fix", but still annoying when it happens.

I too, have encountered this problem...and it is always after quickly pressing a series of keys or using the mouse in conjunction with key presses...however, there never appears to be any rhyme or reason to it.
I sense that this is a bug, and not some super-secret way to mute sound effects. Also, it happens with greater frequency in big battles, rather than small battles. This sounds suspiciously like a bug.

I think Alt-S turns the sound effects off. It's happened to me on the campaign map when trying to do a quick save and hitting the wrong keys.
Have you got the latest drivers for your cards? If it isn't a combination of keys; and it happens more often in larger battles then i would suggest the game is incorrectly detecting how many channels your soundcard can use. A driver update should correct it. If not... i dunno. Just a stab in the dark but worth trying if not already done so.
May be worth posting in the bugs thread if you continue to have problems.
