I am currently playing on Very Hard / Very Hard with the Julii and there is a slight problem. My family isn't growing. It is 240BC and there have only been 2 births since the game started.

Is family member growth determined by the difficulty level?

If a family member isn't stationed in a city, will he not produce other family members?

That's a good point acutally. I suppose it'd be unlikely that their wives would accompany them on their travels, so it'd be kinda hard to get with the jiggy!

I had a similar problem until a spate of adoptions almost doubled the size of the family. Then they got married etc etc Now I've barely a city without a governor and about half the map is mine.

I have said it before, but there should be some kind of "get out and date" function to get the daughters start using lipstick...... ~;)

I have no proof...

But...

I suspect that your daughters look to your Captains and especialy settlements without a family member and therefore a Captain for a garison commander for husbands... So if you have most armies and cities with Family Members in charge then there is not much choice for the dughters...

That could of course be complete BS...

Additionally I have a new H/M Julii game of about the same date and I just realised that there have only been a couple of births so far... ~

Didn't see something like that. It seems to me that it depends on the expansion of your faction: if you conquer you are guaranted that new members will be born in your family!

In one of my campaigns I was getting more births than I wanted to, as long as I was expanding my territory. When I decided to calm down the number of births dropped almost to zero! (my family of rabbits couldn't maintain production)

Don't think so. They even get married when in ambush! Their wives must enjoy the scenery ~;)

Well we'll never understand women. Not even PC women ~;)

That is, at least, a realistic simulation :D
