View Full Version : Creative Assembly suddenly lost 400.000 denari in one go!?

I hold 40 provinces (Western, Central and Eastern Europe, Northern Africa). I gained money up to 480.000 denari. All cities are 'green', there are no riots and nearly all of them are still making money.
Now I was told by the senat not to finish off the Numideans (1 town remaining) but to force them to become protectorate.
I followed this order but after finishing the NEXT turn my money went down to 90.000 denari.
So wtf happend??? In the reports there is nothing.
If I check the financial scale I see that my Julii and the Brutii both drop several 100.000s whilst the Numideans gained from near 0 to 350.000 -- ???

Tonight I will go back some savegames and finish the Numideans off instead of following the senats order and see if that changes anything - but would anyone know why things like that happen!?

thx!

Have a look about, this is a known issue with gaining a Protectorate... Bit of a bummer really but should hopeful be addressed in the upcoming (sometime) patch...

I've seen what you mean (somebody give me back my denarii, or else...)

On the other hand, in my current campaign, I decided I would check what it feels to be a protectorate!!

I keep receiving money every now and then that I didn't ask for :dizzy2:

Man you drive a hard bargain...

"Okay, you give us 350,000 denarii and you can be our Protectorate..."

...hehe! ~D

Okay, so this is a 'normal thing' when gaining an protectorate (which, I agree, should be considered a bug ;o)
But even if this is 'normal' - why doesn't the loss show up in the 'end of round report'? There it said i'd gained 1500 denari instead of loosing 400.000

... i think it is actually a bug, bug! As in not supposed to happen. Can't confirm that but sounds distinctly dodgy to me!

It's not really a normal thing and I believe CA is aware of it and one of the Devs that posts here once in a while said they should be fixing it...

So it is a bug as such and we just have to put up with it until it is fixed...

I'm hoping that we will be able to control protectorates, but I'm not holding my breath.

I like to see Protectorates only being able to garison their citys, not have any armies out and about...

You will get tax revenue from them but will have to defend them against aggressors...

If you fail to protect them (they lose a city) they they can back out of being a protectorate or even become a different factions protectorate...

How does that sound???

Bob the Insane is correct. This is a bug and is being addressed and should be resolved in the next patch
Sorry for the inconvenience. ~
The game should not try and bankrupt you.

glad to hear that, because i've pretty much given up trying to get anyone to become my protectorate. i got one faction to become a protectorate with a fairly substantial bribe. the next turn they revert back and attack me. lol. ok, that's not real bad; heck, i'd do that myself under certain circumstances. but, a 'protectorate' shld be pretty much a vassal state. like bob says, they'd have no standing armies. those would disband immediatly under accepting the protecorate status, except maybe for small city garrisons. it would give you money in exchange for protection from being wiped out and i've just not seen this to be the case. so, glad to see this is going to be addressed.

sometimes the senate fines you if you are a roman faction....
