Just Finished My first Full Campagne as the Scipii. (M, M)

Took Rome to Start the Civil war and then was only a matter of time before i won. Why? Its is far FAR cheeper to just bribe all the other roman armies to join you rather than training the units your self. It took one turn to destroy the Julii after i bribed ALL ther field armys to join me and then assault there towns.

After that it was just a case of mass diplomat assault into Julii teritorry and use their own armies to wipe them out.

I remember in MTW it was Stupidly expensive to bribe opposing factions troops but in RTW im Bribing Full stacks for a couple of K. Made the end of the game very very easy. I know i could just not bribe them but then that is taking away part of the game, i would still like to bribe them but perhaps have to pay much much more for the armies, because as i said before, it actually works out cheeper to bribe than train units.

Anyone else achived a cheesy victory in this way?

Well yes, sort of... It's fairly easy, the cheap bribe matter has been addressed a lot in other threads.

For me, it was even worse. Civil war erupted before I could secure my financial problems, and disruption of trade routes ruined my cash flow. I bribed a lot and, when out of money, captured, exterminated and destroyed the other Roman cities just to get the cash to bribe the armies that tried to stop me to capture, exterminate...

Now that's what I call cheesy. :embarassed:

This time I'm getting ready to fight the Civil war with loads of money. The other experience made me wonder (again) about the philosophy of the game.

I took over Narbonensis, Aquitania, and Taraconenis and then gave people Pain de Campagne and Roquefort. They tasted the combination, and of course the laurel was mine (the best the Scipii could come up with was Messanian Jack).

Thus I achieved a cheesy victory.
