I've noticed when units are under A.I. control they give orders way too often at times causing major lag.
Heres the deal I'm assaulting a town with a general who was just shy of the movement points to assault. But I had a ballista and some hastati that had the movement points to do so.
I march them to where my general was because I did'nt want him taking a stroll arnound the towers to get to my side. The ballista cracks open the door as I had 2 hastati right at the gate to beat the suicidal general in. All had under my command. killed my own captain in the rush lol. Anyways theres a decent unit at the town square. So I turn around and look at my units under the A.I.'s control and a bit of lag kicks in. And all I hear is .....
March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March March
Obviously the A.I. is giving way too many commands at once and this could be one of the reasons why people notice a little extra lag in a siege. Since the A.I. has pathing problems and I assume it is the same from within the walls. So apparently the A.I. needs to be toned down a bit on how often it is allowed to give commands.
In a future battle I had won a battle but had 2000 troops on the field so I put them all under A.I. control and again a little bit of lag kicks in as the A.I. is obviouly thinking way too much and only has a few routers to chase down.
So it appears the more troops that are on the field the less often the A.I. should give commands. The human can only control so many units at once anyways, and in a big battle I do'nt think the A.I. should be hindered too much. It's the small battles that are easy anyways as I can very quickly figure out how to outmanuevre the comp but in a big battle it takes time.
