What do you prefer??????

Occupy
Enslave
Exterminate

I have a mix of the lot, if the culture is same, or if I presume it to be the same, Occupy or if not the other two mostly Extermination………..get’s a lot of cash, morally quite bad………but an empire has to survive…….for the good of the empire as always.

I enslave in the beginning to built up my cities, then exterminate at the end to combat squalor and to get some money! :duel:

I'm beginning to take the following policy dependent upon two factors, Income Potential and establishing certain conquered cities for buildup as Centers for Expansion.

What i"m attempting is to establish a few cities as Centers for Exapansion, meaning these are the cities that for the most part I'll utilize for Training troops. You need a large and growing population, so these cities I want to Occupy. These cities s/b Strategically and/or Centrally located.

Other cities with especially good Income Potential, you also need a good population size, again, I'll seek to Occupy. These cities tend to be Port cities or ones with mines, preferably gold.

I'm attempting to take the attitude that, for the most part, all other cities s/b Enslaved to feed the populations of the above two types.

In certain cases, some poor cities are not woth the attention. Ones that are poorly located, low income resources and/or which have been overly troublesome to conquer with little value in terms of Income Potential or as a city for Expansion. In this case, Extermination I think is warranted, including destroying all buildings, etc.

I'm still in the latter stage, of the first phase, playing as Juii. I've conquered the 5 cities within the Juii side of the Alps, including the two Gaul cities of Patavium and the M????? city. The two original cities, of course, are centers of both Income and Expansion.

Segesta on the Coast, I'm turning into a Income center. Occupation.

Each of the Gaul cities will be primarialy centers of Expansion, particularly the M???? city. Patavium will be both an Income and Expansion center. Patavium will be the center for Westward expansion into the Dacian territory. Occupation.

The M??? city will used to expand Northward and Westward, into Gaul territory (and possibly German territory). Occupation. There's a Gaul city thru the Pass that has a better strategic location, so I may use it as the Expansion Center depending al the buildings available once conquered. Though this city has been a real annoyance the Gauls are using it to continually send Armies down thru the Pass to attack my M?? city. So, I'm rather inclined to Enslavement, and or even Extermination, just to teach them a lesson. It's what true Romans would do. The M??? city is rather advanced in terms of building with an Armory, Stables, etc., but has very low population.

My immediate goal is to take the two southern Gaul coastal cities. One has a gold mine, and this I plan to use as both Income and Expansion centers, expansion will be focused Southward into Iberia. Occupation.

The second city and nearest to the Juii will be used to feed its population into the other cities (though I'll try to take advantage of its Port at some point). Enslavement.

Well, that's the plan anyway. Seems like the best approach strategically to use the options of, Occupation, Enslavement, or Extermination.

BTW, I'm using the Total Realism Mod/Total Combat Mod *combo*, which accounts for the Germans.

Luck!

I enslave mostly in the beginning, when I need population boosts in my fledgling cities (Spain, Parthia and Numidia especially). Just hop the border, sack a populous city, enslave 50%, knock all the buildings down, and hand it back!
