I was wondering if there was a way to shove or push the ladders off of your castle wall. It would make sense, if you beat the initial onrush of enemy soldiers, why not then add insult to injury and push their ladder down? Also, has anyone ever had a siege tower destroyed b4 it reached the walls either attacking or defending?

About the ladders i can't help, the situation has yet to occur, but I've had a siege tower destroyed while assaulting a castle....major bummer...forced me to assault the gates....rather nasty as my casualties could have been fewer....

I think the guys at CA should have watched the Lord of the rings movies while working on RTW. Why not have an option to put the dead wardogs or incendiary pigs into a catapault and fling them into a city to induce fear. Why not have the ransom army option carry over from MTW. I found once that to save my english army from rebelling i luckily captured an enemy prince whom i ransomed back for i think 7 or 8 thousand bucks. Just a few thoughts.

Two units of bowmen are enough to burn a tower down. Luck is involved. Sometimes it won`t even reach the walls, sometimes it will collapse when the first enemys have already reached the wall.
Don`t worry though, they will start attacking when all men have climbed up the ladder - can take a long time with huge unit sizes.
If the tower collapeses, all men that have climbedt to the top level will be placed on the wall, all others are dead right away.

It's kinda funny how you can go charging up enemy ladders yourself. Just for amusement I had a unit run outside to the ladders, and run up them to reinforce the poor bastard archers getting trashed up there.

I like that strategy, you're purely evil.

As far as the towers go, they can be bur'nt down before getting to the wall and once attached to the wall, I believe they are unburnable. But are still vulnerable to siege weapons as I have had the A.I. colapse a catapult and half the unit was lost. one fourth were on the wall and one fourth on the ground and the half in the tower died.

Wrong. You can still destroy them when they are on the wall. As I wrote above... ~

It is just that the AI gives up trying to burn them at this point and swtichs to normal arrows (and the towers can't shoot at a sharpe enough angle)..
