View Full Version : Super SUV (enormous)...?
Hi fellas,
I had a conversation with some colleagues at work about SUV’s. What bugs me is that I know I read an article about a new Super SUV from the states. This is basically a pull wagon from a trailer truck converted to a SUV type vehicle.
I can’t find the article and I can’t remember the name of the vehicle.
Anyone here knows what I am talking about? I just did an hour search on the internet without results. I think it should weigh in the area of 7 tons.
try searching for "big pointless gas guzzling machine made to compensate for something that´s small" ~D
just kidding...no idea
Navistar CXT (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6026041/) ?
I saw this in the newspaper awhile ago.

That's the one. There are actually "small business" tax incentives to support buying this sort of vehicle (over 6,000 pounds.) Hummers purchases are often cited as using this tax break. What a wonderfully inefficient use of our tax dollars...just more subsidy for the wealthy.

Look at the price tag. The base model costs $93,000. How many people do you think can afford that? Believe me, seeing one on the road would be as rare a sighting as seeing a Bentley. It's not very efficient as a business vehicle either, way over powered for trailers smaller than tractor-trailer size. It'd be like hauling my boat trailer with a semi. Nothing more than a status symbol toy for the wealthy.

I love this:
"Anybody can lease a Hummer now for $500 a month. Soccer moms are driving them," he said. "This is not a soccer mom's vehicle."
I'm not included in "anybody" apparently, and neither are most people. ~
Thanks Quietus, that is the one I was looking for.
This puts a new meaning to "full sized pickup truck" and the American sense of having things big.
I would love taking one of those for a spin, but if $93 000 is much, try adding engine volume tax, weight tax, effect tax, goods tax and import tax to it and it would be at least double price here in Norway.
I’ll just have to settle for the new Land Rover Discovery3 at $167 000… (chaa, riiigh!!!)
