My roaming cat archer capt. (single unit) went to slaughter some hoplites(single unit), which he'd done often enough without taking any losses.
Loading the battle took a lot longer than usual, and I was like "oh, it's, like, crashed or something", and that would have been a first for me. (apart from CTDs caused by reckless modding.
I went for a walk(irl), and when I got back, the battle was "ready". I could "Start deployment". However, my men were already dead, lying on the bottom of the sea. The battle map looked quite strange, with just a tiny area on a small island for the enemy to deploy on.
I started deplyment, began the battle, and it was over at once. The lovely easterrn voice promptly added inzult to injurry.

I thought the Dead Sea was really salty and that it is possible to float in it?

If you can pinpoint which tile you fought on (good luck!), then it might be possible to fix it in the map files. I occasionally come across little battle map anomalies like this one, but never so deadly. In some places in the south of Italy the road will sometimes run under 20 feet of water.

Well, unfortunatly, I was able to reproduce the problem.
Of course it wasn't the Dead Sea, but the Sea of Galilee, which is why my men didn't float ~;)
The second time I used vanilla HA, which are cheaper (and have less armour;)

The enemy unit was standing just outside the western tip of the sea, directly east of the port of Sidon. I was coming from the NE of the enemy unit, along the NW shoreline of the lake.

Once again it took several minutes to load the battle, and my men were dead before I got a chance to interact.

LOL!

Next time, try some units with no armour... ~;)

I hope your campaign wasn't too badly wrecked.

Unfortunately, it will be several hundred years before you can add Jesus to your retinue (he adds the "army walks on water" trait.) ~D

Your general didnt have the traits "poseidon or neptune" by any chance? ~:)

Known historical sufferers - Louis VII (tried to battle the Moon people), the muppet that tried to lead the peasant's crusade, the muppet that tried to lead the children's crusade. In fact, most of the Crusaders.

(N.B. I could very well have the Louis wrong - not sure which one it is)
