hi guyz :help:
i played medieval b4 playing shogun
realised that STW cannot "top up" a unit that is reduced in numbers
e.g. 60 archers become 40 after a battle and has gained honour
so how to "top up" back to 60?

thanks

I'm not sure if what I'm about to describe is a feature of STW Mongol Invasions only, or if you could do it in the original STW as well.

In STW/MI, you can drag one partial unit onto another partial unit of the same type, combining them (do this in the little troop window in the bottom-center of the screen). The receiving unit's upgrades will remain in effect, so you can take a partial unit with no armor upgrade and drag it onto a partial unit with an armor upgrade, creating a full unit with an armor upgrade (assuming there are enough men in the two partial units to make a full unit).

The honor levels will be averaged.

What I usually do is keep my tiny army of partial units in a province directly behind my front lines. After a battle I move them in and "top off" attritioned units, then move them back behind the lines until they are needed again. Some will argue that this method doesn't allow for units of high honor to develop as well as they might otherwise, but in most cases I tend to rely on producing high honor troops to begin with, rather than depend on them gaining honor in the field.

Welcome to the Org, Mikagami-san.

Sorry m8, but I only have the one copy and I simply cannot part with it (my favorite computer game of all time, without a doubt).

The good news is, you can get Shogun Total War, Warlord Edition/Mongol Invasions for around $5-10 if you dig. I think a friend of mine got a copy from Amazon online within the last month for only $13.95. It's out there still, and it's cheap. Good luck in getting a copy.

MI has additional campaign scenarios that you may like (1530, 1550, 1580 and of course, the Mongol Invasion), Historical Battle campaigns (several series of related tactical battles), additional units, and a few adjustments that arguably improve aspects of singleplayer gameplay over Shogun (e.g. the elimination of the Hojo and Uesugi hordes that sometimes dominate the mid- to late-game in the original STW).

I'm going to withhold comment about original STW vs. STW/MI as far as multiplayer battles online go, as that is a subject that tends to evoke a cascade of differing opinions around here. I will say this though, most who still play online on the fakeservers use STW/MI, patched to version 1.02.

Some were tossing about the idea of playing some original STW battles online recently, so if that interests you, check the STW MP thread that's stickied at the top of this forum. I think I remember TosaInu saying he enjoys playing the original STW and is ready and willing to do so.

I know you're new here so I'll clue ya in: burning CDs, giving out CD keys, etc. is software piracy and illegal. Org staff are sure to wag a finger at you for mentioning it here (it's in the forum rules). Not to worry, they won't boot you out or anything, but they will caution you about requesting such things here. It's a big no-no.

Personally, I don't care what others do ... it's their karma. But I am both a composer and a software developer, so as a habit, I don't pirate music, software, or any other form of creative art. I respect other artists and their work enough to pay for the right to enjoy their art if I like it enough (well ok, I've used some pictures without permission on my forum site; always felt a bit bad about that).

Good luck in getting a copy.

As I recall, you can retrain units in Mongol Invasion if you've built the drill dojo in that province by dragging their unit icon up from the center panel to the training queue. That wasn't a feature in original STW because there was no drill dojo.
