View Full Version : All ashore, Cap'n
I've had ships run aground twice now, one in the Gulf of Suez and a fleet of 12(!) on the north coast of the Peloponnese where they remained beached, despite all attempts to refloat them.
After about five turns I scrapped them to avoid running costs so have no idea whether they eventually manage to get back to sea or not.
Anyone else had this and is there a better solution other than cashing them in?
Ships run ashore? What are you talking about bro! My ships wont even touch the beaches, when they put the guys off the ships, such as landing an army, they always stay away and the guys walk onto the beaches. Do you have a screen shot of this? Would be interesting to see!
The ships involved weren't engaged in transporting anything. The dozen had left blockading Thermon to trap a Greek fleet in the Gulf of Corinth and the single ship was waiting for units to come from Memphis.
For the next few turns in both cases the units had the "go no further" broken green circle around them, refusing to budge and zooming in showed them to be on dry land although I thought I'd left them offshore.
If it happens again - which I sincerely hope it doesn't - I'll send a screenshot.
I doubt the ships were on dry land. Most likely they looked like they were on a green circle with a red border, i.e. they were "blocked". Of course, the naval blocking in the game is bugged anyway, since you should be able to go round or through your allies' ships, and round any neutral boats.
They weren't blocked. The Egyptian ship was the only vessel in the Red Sea and the Carthaginian fleet had no-one near them. Brutii ships were leaving an unblockaded Thermon and probably jeering at them.
Strangely there's a red spike still there on the map about 15 years on where I last tried to move the single vessel before decommissioning it.
The stuck fleet bug is rather common - and isn't due to mods as I've sometimes seen assumed - but there are a couple of ways that can free your ships as explained in this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=39422).
Tora, the red spike you mentioned sounds very much like a rally point marker.
