Alright so I've been playing Rome for the past few days (which I'm loving in case you wanted to know), and I've found a few problems.

1. Although I love the family/governor system/inductment of captains, I find it very hard to play with when I'm out of family members....So is there a way to manually induct new members from my armies?

2. As I progress I get a chronic case of squalor in all of my settlements, so no matter how much health improving building I build, sickness seems to spread. Any suggestions?

3. How can I deal with plagues, can I quarantine a place? And what happens if a family member gets sick, can I cure him?

1 sounds like you caught the suicidal general syndrome off of the A.I.

An easy way to get new generals is to win battles without them. When you have a captain win a battle there's a chance you can adopt him. As a Roman faction you will also occasionally get a chance for adoption. As far as the non-Roman factions I'm not sure but I know they can adopt victorious captains.

2 you did'nt mention the faction you are playing as so I have no idea what your limitations to health buildings are. But health buildings in the long run do'nt reduce squalot. If you are Roman and you built all the requirements for health at that city level, plagues should be very rare. When you have a plague in the city do'nt move troops out or in until the plague is gone. If your capital is plagued it would be a good idea to move your capital so your new family members do'nt succumb to it.

3 If a family member gets sick you have 2 options leave him there and let him get cured. or if he is very important and you do'nt mind the plague in another city move him to a city with the most health structures. The more health structures a city has the quicker the plague is cured.

4 I ca'nt read that one because it is invisible, must be because of my moonbeam vice

Barbarian factions (at least in my experience as the Britons) can adopt family members.

Actually, all factions have that chance as far as I can tell.

I've played as Carthage, Britons, Seleucids, Macedon, Egypt and Germania, and all have had those messages too.

You may also gain family members by bribing other faction's family members.

But in my experience, if you're growing quickly, you're never going to have near enough family members to govern your cities.

Well that kinda sucks, being an adept of the "amass huge armies-attack a couple of provinces (cities in this case)-wipe off that particular faction-rebuild everything-and then start the same thing again" strategy. And how random is it getting a family member from a captain, I've been using captains for all my campaigns for a while, and the first one I got was yesterday.

On another note, is it just me, or do the other 3 roman factions get into wars just to screw up your diplomatic relations/trade routes.
