Hi guys,

I was struggling a bit getting my head working out what to build to get what unit and thought I'd ceacked it..... until the senate gave a First early legionary Cohort? (the guys carrying an eagle).... I can't for the life of me see how to construct these or re-train? and is there anymore like this?

If you look closer to the Techs Poster came with the game you will noticed, level 4 construction is required plus 16,000+ population as well those building.

Now for am=After Marius, im not sure what timeline that is but just have to wait til the time comes. Perhap someone else can answer what timeline "am" is.

Hiya Yaffle (and Vikings - nice pic!),

"Early Legionary Cohorts" require Legion Barracks (which needs Marius and a Governor's Palace / 6k Minor City).

Marius arrives on the scene when you build your first Imperial Palace in any city (needs population 24k). The date does not matter.

There is nothing that requires 16k. 12k and 24k are the high end levels.

You cannot get them any other way and you cannot retrain them unless you mod the game.

Don't count on them to win ~;)

ah right, apologies - the First ones, with the eagle, are like Nestor says. Regular earlies are like I said.

Or indeed any other Roman Faction building the first Imperial Palace will trigger Marius. I have also heard whispers that a minimum date may be added to the forth coming patch.

Ah then i was wrong, i didnt play this long enough to write down all the details. I was putting together my own tech trees for all factions. Just playing it time to time. ~:)
