Crossbowmen

Does anyopne know if the crossbow men are going to get an outing, they are afterall already there but presumably were superseded by the guns in the original. I have no idea if crossbows were used in the period of the expansion pack, but as there'd be no clash with gunpowder they might be useful troops to have.

The Mongols used crossbows historically. All that's needed is modified teppô graphics and sounds (and no smoke). Perhaps slightly less effective vs. armor. But very do-able.

Yesterday l visited Magy's page about Monglos and...
crossbows are effective as normal Mongol arrows but they take a lot more time to reload so it will be like guns but without that huge gun morale that guns provide

Anssi, the graphics are already there named xbow men, you can get them in the game if you rename the files, but they won't do anything once they're in there except walk around.

Can one of you gusy pulls out that file and make a link or something so that those of us who are less-computer inclined can see just what this xbw guy looks like?

Soly, if your installation is the default one then the Crossbowman texture should be in the directory

C:\Program Files\Total War\Shogun - Total War\Textures\Men\XBow

open the xbow.Lbm files with paintshop or something similar

They seem to have a nice line in pink jerkins in C16th Japan
