View Full Version : Call me Crazy
But I hunger for a new STW. Take the map and make it bigger. Break the provinces into sub-provinces, make the turns shorter, add a ton of geographic detail, use DJs idea on Ashigaru. Has anyone also ever considered a Korean campaign? Or a fancifull campaign on the coast of China? How about letting players play a monastery? There is so much more that can be done. Take all that has been learned and apply it to a STW masterpiece.

Hello Dimeolas,
There's indeed tons that can be done with that era/location. Do you mean to try making a new campaignmap for STW?
As I have stopped playing RTW I am collecting resources for a new STW. And have atrated reading the resources here as I know nothing about modding. I will define what I want to do and see if its possible and with which engine to do it...MTW or RTW. I am also open to using a different game engine.
Imagine instead of just marchinf into a province and having one battle or seigeing the one castle....having 3-6 provinces to maneuver and fight thru ....do you march thru the woods? Or down the one main road guarded by a line of forts? Playing a monastic order....do you come join a war? Or do you sit in your fortified monastery building your strength. Lets just say its in the discovery stage and learning stage.
Would also like to introduce, even if just for eye candy some religion as it was a big part of society.
Thx,
D

Crazy!
The RTW engine has those movepoints for armies, a great feature not present in STW or MTW. MTW has the drawback of fixed yearturns (too long for one country and not neat anyway).
STW is less modable than either MTW or RTW.
RTW may not have all mod bells VI had (really not sure, but I can't find some things). RTW has 6 month turns and movepoints and can be modded and is being worked on(patches, guides, tools). Using RTW would be a good choice, I think joining the Sengoku Jidai project is worth to consider?
Different engines. I don't know which can be used at the moment.
It seems then that I wont be able to do what I had wanted. Yes am watching the Sengoku to see what it has. May consider the alternate project....Hyborian Total War.....set in Conan`s world and based on the pbm game by RSI in Arizona.
Thx,
D

Have you made up your mind? There is also room for creative people like you.
Thx DJ....am eagerly awaiting your mod. Everything goes on the back burner `til New Years because of work. I am sorely needing a good STW mod tho. What little time I have will probably go into learning to model architecture in Max. I`ll check the appropriate forum to see if theres an ETA on the mod.
And thanks for the hard work bro.
Merry Christmas,
D
you're crazy ~;)
what about your site, did you make it all by your own, and what is it for?
Yes, made my site myself. Right now its in change. I made it to have a place to post my artwork.
D
your artwork ??
it's nice!
why don't i see you in sword dojo, don't you play the game anymore?
Apologies for my extreme tardiness. I love the TW series....but do not play. Loved VI but no one seemed to want to play it MP.....bought RTW but single player was uninteresting, the AI used the same tactics time and again. I played MP but the veterans I was used to seeing in MTW were not there. And the players who were there, let us say there were too many who lacked honor and decorum. If I wanted to get cursed I would go to the fish market.
What of the mad for RTW? Is it done? I am having trouble locating it.....
Thank you,
Dimeolas

What STW really needs is more units, omg their are only like 20 total.
well VI has quite some players now I heard...
shogun is rather quiet sadly.
RTW community lacks honour sadly... hope it improves. most of the old clans and players are lurking in stw and mtw vi foyers...
