Im playing with Julii, I have 46 provinces, Rome conquered, Im with war with Bruti and Scipii (hard war) and I conquered Alexandria so I have heavy fightings there.
Egyptian army is really goooood, those axemen soldiers kick ass. My las battle was very hard, I sustained heavy casulties but I won. I had 8 star general, Egyptians also had good general (many stars) so battle was tight.
This batle was something I was expecting from R:TW.
My army was sorted in 2 lines, First line Legionaries, second and flanks auxilia infantry.
My legionaries were on "fire at will", my cavalry engaged their archers (I susdained heavy losses from their chariots)
My legionaries were able to fire 2-3 times before engaging the enemy in hand to hand battle. Fighting was very long (for R:TW) and there was no routing at the most time of the battle on both sides. After my legionaries were shaken I sent my auxilia (2nd line) and my mercenary elephants charging home (after engaging some axeman units). My left wing was winning, right one was loosing badly so i sent half of my left wing to charge on enemy right flank and from behind leaving hole for egyptian soldiers to flee. At the heavenly precise moment my elephants engaged the enemy from the back with one legionary units and enemy was broken (at the same time their general was cut down my cavalry which I "sacrified" as they engaged chariots after archers)...
I lost cca 850 soldiers, egyptians 1000....
I like those Egyptians:)
Most of my battles (I play on medium) are cca 100/1000 dead...booooring and toooooo easy:(...this one was.....great:)
