I thought this was so bizarre I just had to share it:

I was trying to assasinate one of the Macedonian family members. It took me the lives of 12 spies, 16 turns and 71 attempts of assasination to take him down. It was just funny to watch him acquiring traits. Paranoid, mad, etc...I think he was so scared when he died he would do more harm alive....

:laugh4:
Now that's dedication to a job!
Has anyone tried assassinating a unit out of existence? Like when the AI ditches a lone unit of militia in your territory. Instead of attacking, take an assassin and knock them off one at a time.

I did that once before in MTW just for the hell of it. Great training too.

it doesn't work, they get a captain not drawn from the force itself...

Or the captain is drawn from the force they just recruit one of the locals to replace his soldier.

oh well. I did it once in MTW, but that was also 1.0 before VI, so it might not be possible there too.

Of course, the AI might have just disbanded it when it got down to one man, so I can't really even be sure of that.
