I started a new campaign just yesterday using RTR 3.2
My intention was to play the campaign on VH/VH but I don’t quite remember if I changed the needed parameters in the pre-campaign screen.
The easiness with which I won all of my battles so far makes me think that maybe I am playing on N/N. I wish this happens only because of my ever increasing skill :charge: (or AI stupidity shall I say :dizzy2: ) and not because I actually use normal difficulty level, but anyway I would gladly check this to be sure.
But how ???
Maybe I miss something under my very nose, but I need your help on this guys.

Yes, there is such a program. I got it because id heard that random switching of difficulty happened. Its called RomeSage, it also allows you to disable the battletimer, which is especially useful when using phalanx.
Get it here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=11393
On checking campaign difficulty, it is a known fact that campaign difficulty influences farming and tax incomes of which the exact equations have been clearly delineated in the Ludus Magna forum.
For example, Farming Income = (160)(B+U)(H)(D)
where
Base farming (B) - ie 2.5% for Arretium (unique for each region)
Farming upgrade (U) - each upgrade confers a 0.5 benefit
Harvest (H) - poor = 0.95, ave = 1.00, good = 1.04, excellent = 1.08
Campaign difficulty (D) - easy = 1.125, medium = 1.000, hard = 0.920, very hard = 0.850
So D = Farming Income/(160)(B+U)(H)
You can get the rest of the values by opening up the town menu for any particular town in your current game and looking at the details, so you can roughly estimate D and refer to the fixed values above to get the difficulty level.

Oh, my GAWD. So, it's come to this? We need to revert to using Algebraic equations to play this game? Knowns, unknowns, variables. Wonder if I still have that old copy of Age of Empires? http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/fragend/confused-smiley-013.gif

random switching of difficulty!!! are you really serious?? now you've got me thinking if something like that happened in the vh/h campaign I won so easily. Maybe the AI is so good it knows enough not to let us humans in on the tactics it could use at the VH level in case we pick them up so it keeps switching to Easy. How about that ~:)
