View Full Version : Civil war... when?
I am new to Rome (but not the TW series) and have just begun a Julii long campaign. I am now wondering when I am allowed to attack my fellow romans, ie Brutii, Scipii and Rome itself. When I try I get the "You do not have enough popular support" message.
Do I need a certain support from the Plebs, from the Senate or am I only allowed to attack once the civil war begins (and if so, when does that begin and can I make it start sooner??)

Conquer stuff. Get powerful. Do the Senate missions while you're at it, since the rewards can be useful (or not; an unit of Barbarian Cavalry...?). Watch your popularity rating among the Plebs (and chuckle at the descriptions) rise as you, quote, "bring Roman order to stinking Gauls". Once it starts approaching the top of the scale (usually accompanied by the Senate increasingly beginning to dislike you) you can start seriously planning the civil war (easy enough to trigger at that point).
Your surefire sign the time is getting ripe is if and when the Senate gives you a mission involving your faction leader committing suicide, or outlaws either or both of the other families and tells you to attack them...

There will appear a message when you got about 70% of pleb aproval that the people of rome love you and it will show your leader in a horse walking with a crowd.
This is the message you are waiting for. (although I prefer to reach 100% of aproval for the pleb and let the senate ask for my suicide)
