View Full Version : Patch and SP Savegames??

Just a quick question about the patch and SP savegames (couldn't really find anywhere else to post it, so I'm posting it here). I've downloaded the patch but am holding off installing it just now, because I want to know whether or not installing is going to invalidate my current Save games (in the same way the VI expansion for Medieval invalidated sp save games... I lost a lot of effort that had been put into an Almohad campaign, and never quite got over the loss)... if it does, I'll probably hold off installing till I finish my current campaign (its on hard/very hard difficulty, and Ive invested alot of time and thought into it, and would hate to see it go down the drain.).

Also another quick question... my family seems to be drying up, as far as children go (their all about 35-45 yrs old in the current generation and very few have had children)... just want to know... do Generals in the field and on campaign have children, or do they need to be safely inside a town or city to reproduce... Also, do bribed generals ever have children?

Any help with these problems would be much appreciated.

'All bodies are embodied - but some bodies are more embodied than others.' The lack of any clear definition of what it is to be embodied makes it hard to deal with such a proposition.

I don't know about the patch, but generals do have children under all sorts of circumstances, including those in the field, in town, adopted, readopted, etc. I've had 16-year-old heirs pop up in a capital when Dad must have been at least 16 years' travel away. The main condition which slows them down is being dead.

The other thing that can affect births is how many provinces you have. If you're conquering fast they breed like rabbits. I hear that if you sit still for a bit they slow down: once the number of generals approaches the number of provinces you have the chance of kids seems to be reduced.

There's always bribing, though.

Cheers,

I've installed the 1.1 patch without any adverse effect to my save games. One way to be sure tho is to do a backup of all saves, install the patch and see if it works okay. As far as i know though the patch is mainly for multi-player sync problems with only a few balancing issues for single player. These balancing fixes should have no impact on save games, you can tweak units all you like during a campaign.

Hmmm, that seems to make sense.... Ive recently came to a bit of a standoff against the Pontus/Egyptian alliance and haven't conquered anything for a while. Either that or my Family are all minions... or, like a previous games Faction leader, aggresively perverted and very homosexual...

where the hell is the next patch?

Even if they don't have EVERYTHING fixed, they could at least release something to fix the corrupt save game problem.

IIRC, it was Cap'n Fishpants who answered this same question for me a few weeks ago. He said that a major effort will be made to assure that patches are compatible with saves.
