"None of our approved/distributed screen shots of MSN Search were made using a Mozilla Firefox browser"
it seems that microsoft is 20 years late,
george orwell predicted "real fact" and "good fact" subdivision of the truth would occur in 1984,
real fact = microsoft used firefox for their screenshots
good fact = "None of our approved/distributed screen shots of MSN Search were made using a Mozilla Firefox browser"
or perhpas george book should have been titled 2004
B.
Hehe.
I bet the next version of IE will be called Icebadger or something subtle like that.
Reporter: We have apparent evidence that screenshots of MSN Search which Mirosoft released were made using a Mozilla Firefox browser

"We have never used Firefox, never, I can assure you that those villains who report this lie will recognize, will discover in appropriate time in the future how stupid they are and how they are pretending things which have never taken place. They are lying every day. They are lying always, and mainly they are lying.
I have detailed information about the situation which completely proves that what they allege are illusions."
so THATS where he got to...
whats that you say?
microsoft would never hire him??
think again

Without a doubt, the next version of IE will have something very similar to the Firefox's tabbed browsing system.

rofl, some very classy posts in this thread. I am just amazed how microsoft could be so dumb.
Firefox is awesome, but I cannot get realplayer/wmp to work on it. It says 'download pluggin' but it doesn't help.
sidenote, what is all your problem with microsoft? People hate succes, uncle Bill made windows at night in his free time, and his hard work payed off. I guess too many suits underestimated the geek ~D

in his free time?
Dos he bought from Seattle Computer and leased to IBM,
(that deal alone insured he would never have to work again)
Xerox developed the GUI at their Palo Alto Research Center, Bill and Steve both saw the research and put their own spin onto copies of the software,
Apple Lisa was born, "ms Windows" came soon after and Apple Mac (an extension of Lisa) was not far behind.
Bill had no job, thus "at night in his free time" is not accurate
Windows was the bastard child of Seattle Computer Systems and Xerox, developed by Microsoft tinkering with software they didn't invent.

We have that Unix and Linux crap on the public computers at my school and I hate it...what is the deal with typing everything in to open stuff?
Besides, you can do many things on Windows that you can't even come close to on other OS's.
I love seeing MS get egg on its face.
Firefox kicks ass, I love it. The only time I load up IE is to hit those sites that uses code or plugins that are incompatible with FF.

you guys must have a really crappy linux instalation at your school.......with the new versions , specially with the KDE interface, linux is just as user friendly as windows.

i do not have a problem with their success...they do produce the most easy do use products.......i won't say the best but for most users being easy to use comes first...
and i run windows at home...mainly because i do most of my work at the university were i have linux installed....if i wanted to work more at home i'd have to consider installing it there too.
what pisses me off about them is their complacency( spelling?)...they did amazing things on the beggining of their company...but now their just living of their past.......if microsoft got it's act together and really made and effort to get better the computer market would take a surge in improvement....as it is they are just help things remain stagnant.
and let's not forget many of moments yelling in anger over a blue screen of death ~D
altough i have yet to experience one with windows XP...that i wasn't responsible for creating...so...a step in the right direction.

As far as user-friendliness goes, latest versions of KDE, Gnome and perhaps other environments (depending on one's personal tastes) are as user-friendly as Windows.
It's not as easy to install stuff (but again, it depends on your distribution), and you won't be able to play all games in Linux/Unix, but other than that it's way more stable and fast and reliable than Windows.
When was the last time my Linux box crashed ?
Hmm, sometime last year the cdrom got stuck, but it was because of some issues with the Windows that was running under Vmware at the same time.
When did I last reboot my linux box ? 98 days ago, and it's running fine (and 98 days ago there was a power outage, actually). If I leave my Windows for a day or two without a restart, it's slow as &^%$.
I have a bunch of games under Linux though that play smoother and faster and use fewer resources on Linux than their counterparts on Windows, such as Railroad Tycoon 2 or HMM3.

try RealPlayer Alternative, or matroska (a package that will allow you to install codecs as well as plugins for Firefox, IIRC - can't remember for sure about the last one).

HUh, I've never had a problem with my Firefox. I was totally afraid to install it though, because I thought it was a huge deal.
I downloaded the file, isntalled it, and said "yes" do "Do you want to use FireFox as your Main Web Browser?" and then deleted my IE Shortcuts.
It amazed me how a simple thing like No Popups, Insane Load Times and a Tabbed Browser (for starters) can totally change the internet browsing experience.
i use linux as a system to do most non gaming stuff on, it is soo much more powerful then windows, if you have any idea how to operate linux you can do anything.
windows if you try to do anything crashes and has a blue screen.
thanks,
dessa
