Notice it's been pretty dead here, so I thought I'd throw out something I came accross recently that I found interesting. It is common knowledge that one of the reasons Takeda Shingen overthrew his father was because he favored making Shingen's younger brother head of the clan. An interesting note to this is that the exact same thing was done to Shingen's grandfather Nobutsuna by his great-grandfather Nobumasa. Shingen's great-grandfather Nobumasa retired early, and gave leadership of the clan to Nobutsuna's younger brother. This set off a war within the clan, with Nobumasa supporting Nobutsuna's younger brother. Eventually, after great cost to the clan, peace was brokered, and Nobutsuna became head of the clan. If only Shingen's father Nobutora had learned from his grandfather's mistake....

These Daymios (sp?)... many of them had family problem... brother turning against brother, son killing father... maybe they should have had only one son (not good... the father would've had to kill the sons he did not want to raise).
