yeah there's another brief thread around here I started somewhere about that movie http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
and I did find the costumes pretty interesting. Actually I didn't note their similarity to Samurai as much as I did to Romans hehe. (not their costumes, more their riot-squad formation in the Emperor's palace)
I'm not sure if it's the look into Chinese history that I found so interesting about that movie or not... I find a lot of other people who like cheesy dramas found Emperor and the Assassin to drone on too long, but I was fascinated by the glimpse of ancient China which is seldom depicted even halfway acurately in the west. Of course, I'm sure there's plenty of legend and myth involved in this movie as well, but eh. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif was still pretty cool.
arr. reminds me of some movie which I can't remember at all for the title... it was a Chinese story that kinda resembled a samurai ronin story.. some general got mixed up in politics and had to run away from his government and ended up a monk somewhere... eh! I wish I could remember more to describe it, but I remember it being a good movie as well. Had lots of interesting historical costumes. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Oh, for Chrissake read a book sometime you ignorant klutz. Ancient Chinese armor was nothing like Japan! These movies are utter bilge!
makhno please be respectful in this forum, we are discussing not only Japan, but also other countries that it has communicated with in history. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
Although I don't understand chinese people and japanese people, but I have read their history. Do you realise why Japan culture are the same to China, that's because Japan adopted every single piece of culture from China from the start of the chinese Qin dynasty towards the Tang Dynasty.
During the Shogun period, Sun Tsu tactics and war strategies were used, do you notice why the name Sun Tsu doesn't sound like Japan that's because he is a chinese general, he was the origin of the ninja spies master. Also the shogun armour is a chinese armour that traces back to Qin to the Han dynasty and the three kingdoms in China. A lot of these evidence are in books if you go into depth with Chinese history and Japanese history. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

LOL@Makhno's reply. Two posts in and he's already going for the throat....
As for this -assasign- my first reaction is a flashback to college: "what assignment on the emperor?"

Why do we have to have so many high school students in here! I was merely talking about the design that was used in the movie!
