Do you guys think there will be an upgrade in the graphics for MTW? I heard something about MTW 2 and a new graphics engine....it was in this site where I heard it. I dont know if its true but I would love to see something like that. Maybe MTW with the RTW engine? Think of the possibilities!!

Maybe as an expansion of RTW or a new version, but I highly doubt that they would just use an old concept.

There is a MTW mod on it's way for RTW. The team and I are working on a lot of new cool units and an expanded RTW map with new provinces. It will be some time before it's finished, but it will properly be more fun than RTW (I hope ~D ).

I have RTW. I played it once and put it on the shelf. I don't know, I just can't get into it and I don't like having to unlock the other factions. I like MTW VI with the Med Mod and I like doing my own mods. I like changing faction regions around, i. e. Novgorod in the Mediterranean Islands and making up different titles for regions and positions. I also like to fiddle around with tradable goods and resources. It is MTW for me, I find it more engaging. I just wish it had better diplomacy and trading opportunities. Also too bad you can't play the campaign in multiplayer. ~

Actually you can make all factions available in RTW with just a small edit in a textfile.

But yes an improved RTW engine in a medieval setting would be my favorite. MTW 2...yum ~

As a former business student i can tell you that MTW and STW are likely to be released as sequels in about a couple of years time, maybe more.

Both games were a global hit as soon as they came out, so there is a high chance that the sequels will follow similarly.

The reason for me not saying that theyll be out anytime soon will be because of RTW dominating that area ATM. Mods will come out for years to come, so when STW2 and MTW2 come out, they will be superior to RTW.

I think MTW has to be one of the greatest games ever created.

The depth, complexity, modability, and sheer variety and fun are top rate.

I have had some truly epic battles that would make Hollywood weep. . .

I can see MTW being on my hard drive for a long time to come.

Even though RTW is out, both it and MTW are separate games covering two completely different time scales. . .

Cheers!

Youre not wrong. In many PC games Magazines, its in the top 3 for Best Strategy.

This is why modding of MTW should not stop. This game will be played for a long time to come.

What other game covers this period with the variety of this game?

None.

Look at the playable countries.

We get the Pope; the Golden Horde; Vikings; etc, etc. . .

Heck, we can even marry off Princess'. . . ~

That CA was able to pull this off, and that it all works so well, is truly an achievement.

For those who don't have the game Walmart is carrying it for less than $10.00. :balloon2:

Aye, it is a truly brilliant game. I would love a sequel. But i would like to keep the 2D map and AI of MTW, because i hate RTW's AI and map. Imagine, being able to fight in huge medieval towns......

I like Cavalry better in RTW, however they are much too overpowered. Somewhere in the middle with other things the way they were in MTW would be awesome

Activision could still milk the MTW cow by issuing a "Platinum Edition". It could consist of MTW, VI Expansion, plus several of the best mods that have been done for it with easy install exes.

There are lots of people without access to the internet (and those that do) who would buy the total package.

-i would LOVE a version of M:TW made with the R:TW engine. my only worry is that they'll stick with the R:TW A.I. :(

They cant release other peoples mods with their software,
Theyd need to make a few of their own,

a stw mod from ca would be nice. Or atleast a sengoku jidai period mod.

And prehaps more islands,
like the entier planet. With eskimo Warriors and Polarbear riders and the like from the colder regions:)

And boomerang using aberiganees whos bomarang breaks after so many usages (or hitting 1 wall)
as oposed to runing out of ammo, With dreaded kangaroo Pouch riding warriors,
Or wouldnt that be politicaly correct?

A few more islands and some more uneiqe to the culture warriors would be what im asking for,
And encorporate them all in a new time line,

One that uses the whole world unlike the vi expantion soley constraining me to the uk

Another way would be if CA releases the source retaining the rights like Volition did for the descent:freespace series.
This way the MTW engine would be improved by the community and if the results can be like the ones obtained by the FS community it would be a dream game...
Take a look at www.3dap.com/hlp to see what i mean...
They picked a 1999 game and made it even better than many 2004/2005 titles.

Seems like one of the next TW consideration is Napoleonic, I've read this somewhere in another forum. I don't think they will re-do STW or MTW in the immediate future.

The series is still in its infancy. It will look like they have already ran out of ideas if they remake these so quickly. :charge:

CA is already making the next TW, but whether this is the Napoleonic one is a well guarded secret.

I wouldn't buy it if it would be a Napoleonic Total War.... The idea $%#@!..... I want CA to make a Limited Edition of MTW(MTW, VI expansion plus the best mod, plus a strategy guide and a poster).... It would be the best thing they could do!!!... I will buy it promptly if they are gonna do this....

Calm down my littlte friend. The muskets are nothing to fear. It might be kind of interesting after all... But they would need to throw in some cool monkey warriors too... with ninja swords and flame throwers.

I would not dare say that relaunching STW or MTW with much improved RTW engine seems like running out of ideas.
Sengoku Jidai period had been seriously exploited by japanese producers like KOEI well before STW was released.
Same for medieval startegies.
My point is that it is inevitable for a game to be created that will cover Sengoku or medieval period in not too distant future. If we assume that, then it would bring CA no shame to do it properly themselves rather than making us play some botched clones made by other developers:-)
Hope those guys take my words into consideration.
I seriously would give my kidney to see STW and MTW re-released in, say, in 18 months with an engine that would make RTW seem obsolete. ~
