Many times, the units on the battle map will be one unit rank lower than what they are shown in the campaign map i.e. the unit on the battle map is 2 bronze chevrons but on the campaign map it says 3. Has anyone else encountered this?

I had that quite often, aswell as units gaining one exp that didn´t show up on the campaign map, it may be because of a generals traits, but i think they should be applied on the campaign map aswell, because this way it´s a bit confusing IMO.

More than likely from Traits, for example "Good Infantry Commander" I do believe gives one chevron to any infantry on the battlefield
and then there is an equal one for calvary...I think it might be "Galloper" But I'm not completely sure.

the " Good infantry commander" trait gives your general more command stars when commanding infantry. It doesnt give your infantry units more chevrons on the battlefield. I dont think there is any traits for giving or taking chevrons from your units.

I too noticed that sometimes my units have lesser chevrons on the battlefield than on the campaignmap

I know it's experience that gains your troops chevrons - but how much? and what constitutes as enough experience to gain that chevron? Killing 100 men? 80 men? Are these kill points added up only in one battle or are they gained in subsequent battles and summed up after each one, and there's a running tab of how much experience each unit has?

Anyone have any more info on this?

Yea ive seen this happen also. But i dont think ive seen a unit gain a chevron, but ive seen em lose one.

Id also like to know how the XP numbers breakdown.

I hate insomnia.

Here's one of my usual wild guesses, but it seems like killing routers gives a smaller contribution to a unit's experience than regular combat does.

It's not surprising to observe that discrepancy when you have a general with the army. As other have said, he may have some traits that reduce experience/valor. But I have seen this same decrease occur in a field army with NO general. I usually keep a couple small stacks around to deal with rebels, and I rarely have a character with them, but I've seen them drop from campaign to battle map. I can think of no reason for this to happen without a character, but it does. Can any of you folks think of a plausible reason?
