View Full Version : 3D Studio Max 6 question
Hello there,
Does anyone have 3D Studio Max 6 here? If so, I have two questions :)
Will it work with Vercingetorix's CAS plugin?
Will it work with Windows 98 even at reduced performance?
I found someone upgrading to Max 7 soon and looking to sell his Max 6 but I need to be sure before I shell out cash.
Thanks very much,
Clare

The CAS editor does work with 3ds Max 6. I have no idea wether it runs at windows 98. But 3d modelling programs do require memory and processing power so if your computer is not able to handle XP, then I am not sure wether it runs properly.
:book:
Just checked the system requirements:
Minimum System Requirements: Windows 2000, NT, or XP; Intel-compatible processor at 300mhz minimum, 128mb of RAM and 300mb of swap space minimum.
And if I were you I would double the requirements just to have it run smoothly. You will have lots of frustation when your model is shockingly rotated.
Hi Duke John,
Got the HD space, 256RAM, Intel 550 processor, Win98 and an ATI Graphics card for video capture and editing. Its basically a souped up Pentium III and it seems to be okay even for later products (like the ATI card w/c was recommended for Win ME/XP and Rome TW w/c I can run with most graphics settings on minimum). But the CAS plugin should technically work?
Thanks,
Clare

I have 3ds Max 6 and the script runs, so yes.
And what are you going to make? Will you go for the Hundred Years War, the Wars of the Roses, or something else?
Actually I've been thinking of something a bit further in the future. I've been wanting to make a mod of the Jacobite Risings for a long time now and I've nearly enough info to make a Zulu War mod. I finished the skin for a Brit Redcoat but I just need to cock his hat into a tricorne shape :)
I think I might just buy it and if it doesn't work on my machine I'll convince someone with XP to install it there and I'll work on it when I can.
Thanks very much!
Clare
P.S.
Any chance we'll be seeing War of the Roses TW for Rome? :) It's certainly a better diplomatic engine for doing it.
