View Full Version : enemy getting stuck on siege towers - help?

Hey I have a problem that maybe someone could help me with. (also I searched for this topic but couldn't find a thread)

I am playing as Brutii... and almost everytime an enemy faction besieges one of my cities, I end up with enemy units stuck(won't get off) on the seige tower bridge to the wall.

I can't kill those units from the wall so I always have to go outside once the enemy retreats and try to destroy the tower with my infantry.
(the first time this happened, I sent a unit which actually went up the tower and attacked the enemy on the platform -- I hasnt worked since)

Thats the other annoying thing.... it takes forever for the infantry to destroy those towers, expecially the largest ones. I have to sit around for 5-10 minutes while the units are messing around.

Does anyone know what causes this or how I could get them to stop getting stuck there? Or at least a way to destroy the siege tower a lot faster?

I have had this same problem so I assume it is a known bug.

Basically you will end with a 'handfull' of enemy infantry left on the top siege tower platform one the main army seems to have run away. I think this happens once the enemy in the seige tower rout maybe.

These 'stuck' infantry just stay still/frozen, whilst you do not seem to be able to move your infantry from the ramparts to the top of the seige tower to kill them.

It is only a minor annoyance really. You can kill them with missle troops or destroy the tower with infantry. Even if you do neither you will still win (assuming you hold the town square). Just speed up the clock to get to the end.

Flaming arrows are the best way to get rid of a tower, I think. It'll still take a few volleys, and sometimes damage doesn't register until it catches fire (ie, it'll still say 0% damage until the thing actually collapses), but it'll go down eventually.

I'm not sure about this, by the way, but I sometimes have to order my archers to fire each volley. You can't just fire once and expect them to carry on, but order them to shoot the tower each time. Four or five should do it.

Thanks for the replies!

THanks for reminding me about the clock. In sieges I keep forgetting. Speeding up will make it a lot less annoying.

Also about archers, their flaming arrows don't seem very effective against them huge towers that come to attack the Epic walls. I haven't been able to catch one on fire, but I will try again if it happens.

thanks again. (its good to know it is probably a known bug, too.)

I find that if I send my men to the base of the tower, then order them onto the walls. That seems to be quite effective at flushing the stragglers out.
