I'm playing my first barbarian campaign (Germania). Does anyone know exactly what the effect of the screaming women is? I suspect it lowers morale of enemies, but wondering if it affects your own troops in some way. I was also wondering if anyone had figured out how close the screaming women need to be to the combat to have an effect.

Another question: What's the trick to using warcry? Does it matter how much time you give your soldiers to yell before charging?

Any advice on proper use of these special abilities is appreciated.

Warcry gives a temporary boost to the combat stats of the unit employing it.
So you need to use it just before charging the enemy. Its a feature that imo makes barbarian inf a little harder to use(especially in mp) because of the extra thought/clicking needed.

Screeching women indeed lower the morale of enemy troops. Not sure about the distance though.

Screeching woman from what I know can boost the morale of your own troops for an infinate amount of time, the downfall is if I'm right is they can't be engaged in melee for this bonus. They also reduce the morale of the enemy while they are screeching.

For fun they are better off being your enemy. Take 3 archers and target screeeching woman. The screams from dying woman in mass is funny and after 3 volleys from 3 missile units they are almost dead due to having no armour

Screechers are great in a seige. (pallisade/wooden wall)
Playing as Germania I had huge sticks of Guals attacking all the time. With the spear warband at the breaches and women behind them screaming their funbags off, I had armies 3 times the size of my garrison breaking all the time.

Sreaming Women have a devastating effect on the morale of marriage and other heterosexual relationships, particularly in the Arkansas area of the US, where the sound of their wailing indicates that someone is probably gonna lose a trailer during a divorce siege. Honest.
