"Ding-Dong! Congratulations, you have just captured one of the 7 wonders of the world."

Ops sorry, this thread is about 7 rages that you capture during RTW gameplay. The result is a 20% frustration level (expressed in good languages) that will gradually decreased to 0% as time goes on. I made up my own list, and welcome to add your own.

[Seven RTW Rages]

1. Your AI general dumped your entire reinforcement!

2. Yet another rebel group popping up on your door, just to say Hi!

3. "L-ow for your lives!"

4. Ops, you again forgot to move your X army and Y diplomat before hitting end turn!

5. "Siege equipment is automatically deployed..."

I can't really think of the rest. Maybe there are more than 2 good candidates... ~D

Perhaps if we retreat deeper into their territory it will confuse them more?

This happens a lot with navies, whom, after being beaten, will often flee furhter from your ports. Not really a territory issue, but annoying, since they will be hit by every AI radar toting fleet out there.

Hmm... the one that got me really upset was the "units non-responsive because of celebrating in the middle of the battlefield" issue, but since nobody replied to that thread, I suppose it might be just me or a freak occurrence.

Did I miss anything else?

1. Captain led armies are utterly witless against walls and even general led armies can be easily fooled. I cannot think of instances where I lost a stone walled city. I try if possible not move in ways that flummox the ai - sometimes it appears to be in ignorance of the existance of a the walls in front of it - like moving my army around behind the walls. Wall assaults and sallies have some glaring horrible faults.

2. Diplomatic con tricks.

3. A refusal after a certain point to even consider peace. MTW seemed a little better on that point. Maybe the ghost of some Ulsterman infects the ai.

'No surrender,'

'not an inch.'

4. Budgetary statistics that are grossly misleading.

5. Ship experience problems that mean that even when a faction has perished its rebel naval stacks - how are this vast stacks sustained - clog up the sea channels.

6. 3D cities views that are completely identical to one another any given level, differing levels of improvement excepted. Some randomisation might seem a small thing, but it ruins much of the sense of immersion. When the city is small the landscape makes up for it. When larger, it is spoils so much of the atmosphere. The cities are really just outsize castles, however much saying that pains me.

7. I have often encountered how massively vulnerable the ai is to assassin improvement sabotage. Every bit of damage can be repaired in one turn, resources allowing, yet the ai fails badly here. The ai is more often than richer than than many money trainer users (I exaggerate to make a point), yet this computerised Croesus is so slow to repair. What really makes this a problem is that ai assassinations and sabotage are so rare. Spies are common but they are little better than jumped up scouts or spotters for armies or assassin sabateurs. Spies should also help with sentiment.

Seven and a bit, but all very annoying.

This game is great, but the niggles are very irritating.

I don't understand why people always complain about diplomacy in RTW. It certainly has its flaws and oddities. But I find diplomacy in RTW to be vastly better than in MTW and STW. In STW I basically ignored diplomacy since it was pointless. In MTW it was worth using, but you couldn't rely on it. In RTW I've had many great successes with some alliances. I certainly view the diplomatic game as something worth getting involved with now.

Victoria saying "Lore and order" umpteen thousand times. I had to shut off the advisors fairly early on.

Yeah right, Victoria says another tip but can be turned off. I was bugged a lot but not anymore:

"Public order has becoming low here. ..."

I just recall another annoying line - for round shield cavalry. It sounds very... eh... from a romantic soap drama. You probably know it already --

"Kill cavalry~"

... I got goose bumps from this line :furious3:

no that's happened to me, often during mp games which can be quite the hassle :furious3:

6. Hit "End Turn" instead of "Faction info" at the beginning of the turn.

:wall: Happened to me several times.

one of the most annoying things for me is to go to alot of trouble to fulfill a senate mission, only to be told that the senate is pleased with your faction & will consider you for an appointment to office AAARRRGGGHHH!!! :dizzy2:

Does the 'consider you for an office' actually work? It seems to me that it's kinda broken.

I remembered another one. A 12-minute siege with 2000+ on each side. :furious3: :furious3: :furious3: (I would love to see it if I am the defender, though. evil evil ~;) )

Hmm let me think.

No 1. Suicidal AI controlled generals.
No 2. Unresponsive friendly fire missile units.
N0 3. Movement of troops in groups (Aaargh)
No 4. Troop path finding in cities.
No 5. Restrictive time limits. (Ok on sally though)
No 6. Dead general animation (I was just about to order a unit to charge...!)
No 7. The non-appearance of seige equipment during a sally.

Love the game though. Love even more to see it fixed!

9. Egyptian Immortal huge size Bowmen.
11. Egyptian huge size cavalries.

Did I miss anything else?

Indeed, these huge sized armies should be massacred, no mercy! :furious3:

That is the absolute worst!!! :furious3:

Makes me wish that the autosave kicked in at the END of the turn rather than the beginning.

Actually it comes at both the end AND the beginning of a turn. Therefore, when you accidently hit end turn, just quickly "Ctrl + L" to get back to your last save, then load the autosave file from the saved game menu. This way you can pretend nothing happened. ~D
