Is there anyone who knows how to modify unit sounds?

I can't get my units to answer when I click on them. I've edited the voice.txt files; created new WAV files; removed the DAT files, forcing the game to search for the WAVs...

My units respond to orders. They shout out "March!" or whatever. But I can't get them to identify themselves on the first click.

I sent this same request out at least twice on five different forums and I've gotten no answers. Does no one know what to do, or am I just being ignored? :help:

I haven't downloaded any yet, but from the response I've gotten so far I'm guessing all the mods, like RTR, are just silent movies huh? ~;)

Thanks for the feedback, anyway. ~

What about the new mods, like RTR 4.0? I haven't been able to download it yet, because there's a problem with the link (cuts you off after half-way through the dl). Has there been new sounds incorporated into that?

What about that voice realism mod I remember hearing about, the one where orders would be put into Latin for roman units, Greek for Greeks and so on? Did that ever get off the ground?

How about emailing CA? They helpful at all?

I would assume that the files listed under "vocal Unit_Select" in export_descr_sounds_units_voice.txt would apply here. Original files have names like "Roman_General_1_name_roman_medium_cavalry_1.wav"

I'm not a modder, so excuse my ignorance (and take my advice with that in mind). If you already have the Unit_Select keys pointing to the right files, not really sure why it wouldn't work.

The reason I'm searching on the mod forum: I've been trying to find a way to get rid of the annoying "The day is oooouuuuuurrrrrsssss!" bit. I'm pretty sure it's the Roman_Player_Victory_*.mp3 files in Voice3.dat. If anyone has ideas on how to extract the separate mp3/wavs from the DAT and IDX files, it would be much appreciated. Hopefully I can replace them with less cheesy clips, or go all the way with some good Monty Python lines. ~D
